[Plurk poll] I'm cat sitting for a friend. The kittens knocked a book into their water and ruined the book. Should I replace (for $12)?

I know I'm not obligated to, but obv it would be nice.

Depends? It may have happened on your watch, but I assume you didn't put the book there and you can't control the cat. So I'd say you don't have to replace it unless you really want to

Would be nice yeah. So if you want to and it won't hurt your wallet, you can. But also would not feel pressured to.

I wouldn't expect it if someone were watching my pets and they did that. But if it looks like a well loved book and you just want to be nice

warhawk: Sopping. It'll dry but I think the pages will be too crazy to really make it usable.
Nah, put it in the freezer

Otherwise, it may not even be one they'd be sad to miss

warhawk: It was already warped by the time I found it.

You could text/call them and see how they react to the lost book? If they're just like "oh, okay, nbd" might not be a well-loved book?
wouldn't it just. be wet again when you took it out of the freezer?
and ehh it's a really nice gesture but i'd find it on the excessive side, personally. like, i'd understand the thought process, but it'd still be a little bit weird

i'd probably text, but i wouldn't find it necessary to replace. it wasn't you who spilled the water so....
