Amy (Scarlet)

Nah, he'll be on his own with maybe a snail or something. They're kinda mean fish.
Petrie

they are... one of her friends put Chancey (the Betta) in his goldfish bowl while caring for him and clearing his tank... Chancey killed the goldfish.....
Amy (Scarlet)

really wants to get a snail or some shrimp but my betta is waaaaay too aggressive.
Snowy Stella
The really aggressive ones can rip the antennae off snails. :-( So I'd suggest get the fish first, check his temperament (does he flare often, does he rip apart his food), then try the snail.
Snowy Stella

But yes get him he's so freaking pretty I love rosetails. :-D
Snowy Stella

As he ages he may have some trouble swimming (hence the controversy with the breed) but I have friends with rosetails and they never had trouble with them biting their fins. So it just depends.

what a beauty! Love halfmoons :-D I used to keep one quite happily in a 30 litre tank with a few guppies and a few tetras and a couple of little catfish and a couple of female Betta
Siddean

they can happily co-exist with non-agressive species, just not with other males. He was very happy until someone unplugged the tank's filter and the ammonia spiked and killed everything. Broke my heart (tears)
Siddean

His name was Pixel and he was a red/blue halfmoon like that one in the OP, he would hang out in his plant and rush/flare anything that came too close, but he never attacked the other fish.

I can't keep Bettas anymore, I get too sad if they die :-(

I lost three in a year. It's heartbreaking when they go. :-(
