Sometimes when looking at places to live, I look at their rental application and I realize no one is going to rent to us

you are a 1099 worker if you file taxes that's what counts. as for credit get a card, charge 10.00, pay it off. do that every month and that builds credit

I do pay taxes on SL, which is definitely helpful cause I can show them that history if I need to

And I did recently (like not even a month ago lol) get a secured credit card, but it'll be a while before my credit score is anything but a big old zeroooo

I think you start at 500? And then work your way up. I screwed mine up when I was 19 and the lowest it ever was was 350. But it's nearing 700 now thanks to join accounts with my 800 husband lol

I used to work with people who got apartments and vehicles with ACTIVE BANKRUPTCIES. You can find someone who will rent to you

That makes me feel better. I've never rented from an actual landlord before so I have no idea how strict or not strict people can be about this kinda stuff

yeah try to find someone renting not a property management company, they are more able to make adjustments where a company probably won't

Going through a person rather than a company/corporation is usually a bit easier because they can be more lenient.

And a good reference always helps. As you know from our landlord, the app is a formality :-) your credit will build faster than you realize
