I started watching this since I needed something with not too complicated dialogue to watch whilst doing sewing things
+ expected some love story thing w/ classical music
but what i got was main character experiences ptsd from his childhood abuse all revolving around his early piano career
like...he can't play the piano anymore because he can't hear the sound of his own playing after his mother died
his mother and her friend decide to make him into a pianist at a young age because he was super talented
he goes on to win all these competitions, whilst his mother gets iller and iller
and more and more abusive
and like EVERYONE knows that his mother is beating him? and abusing him? including the friend that started this whole piano thing
but they're all too busy being concerned w/ their jealousy over this child's piano playing ability
+when the mother beats him hard enough to make him bleed in public after one performance only THEN does the friend say "I think you've gone too far this time" ....what so all the other times were okay?
+then after the mother dies... Kousei is just left on his own......................
because his father is busy "away on business trips"
I mean I know /western perspective and all but yoooooooooooooooo
also the main female character seems to be there only to "fix" Kousei's trauma and then they're going to throw her away to some illness for the sake of making him into a great pianist again
i'm??? I mean it's beautifully animated for the most part and the music is really nice
(also Kaji Yuki turns up for a bit)
but.............. so many questions
like the show's own attitude to how Kousei was treated + his struggle to return to the piano is kinda weird
ALSO HIS MOTHER ABANDONED THEIR CAT
