exciting news! monday we're probably going to the shelter to pick out a kitty! Anyone have any advice on what to look out for or how to pick the right kitty? I'm giddy with excitement!

Let the kitty pick you! That's how I got Bo haha. I actually was at the rescue lady's house to see a different cat and went home with a different one. I'm excited!

dont rely on looks. Go for friendly, approachable and not skittish or shy.

You want one that talks to you, looks you in the eye and comes over to see you. That beautiful standoffish one is still there for a reason.

Also check and see how long certain cats have been there, and why. Sometimes the cat that isnt as pretty or is a bit older will linger when it needs to be homed the most and is a wonderful cat.

And some of the prettiest ones are still there because they have been returned for being mega-assholes.

My best kitty baby EVER came from the animal shelter, it was love. <3 We ended up getting 2 since MJ was there for 8 months because she has one ear missing and looks kind of nasty, but she is shy and quiet.

I'm not a cat expert, but males seem to be more likely to be cuddly and affectionate in my experience. Your mileage may vary.

we will see who picks us. That seems to make the most sense. :-)
