200-year-old mummy found meditating in Mongolia: report Kind of silly but this article made me a bit sad. Like, I understand wanting to study him, but why couldn't they have left him where he was?

idk, maybe they found him somewhere where he shouldn't have been. But I just keep imagining them taking him from his monastery or something.

I agree, and yet I can't help but think that if the forensic folks hadn't taken him, someone else probably would have :/

I feel the same way when I see mummies or Viking skeletons. Never in their wildest dreams tools they think they'd end up in a glass case, with people staring at them
ArianaSz: When I went to the British museum I couldn't bear to look at the mummies because there was like all these kids were all like "EWWW" and them and I just wanted to slap them and scream at them that
that had been a real person with real hopes and fears and everything who believed that this would take them on to some awesome new place of hopes and fears and realness and argh
Heh. It really upset me in a way I really had not expected until I was there.

Mummies absolutely fascinate me, but I totally agree, they should have been left where they were.

If love to go to Egypt and see the pyramids - slight issue of civil unrest though
