And I have to cancel my chemo for this Thursday because if I go, they'll charge me for that too.
Each chemo treatment is thousands...
It really is just not my week.
Oh my lord... I'm so sorry...

ughhhhh fucking insurance companies. this is your life they are fucking around with.
sorry for the profanity but FUCK
Do they not grasp the fact you have fucking cancer?!
so it was just the 'doctor' and not the actual practice/office that was different???
I've been on the phone with the insurance company, the hospital billing department, and my new doctor at least twice each for the past hour trying to sort this out.
wait wait what? I live in the one of the craziest states and even they are going back and paying for three months of appointments I went to that my old insurance didnt cover.
Trinetty: right, the doctor that they assigned to me didn't work there anymore, so I had to get a whole new one
There are grants for that kind of stuff. Also, because you were technically under the other covered dr's care, when you were originally scheduled, by law, they cannot say they won't cover it.
MaelieYing: I asked them if they could back date it, and the person at the office said that they insurance wouldn't do that
and totally not your fault! that's BS... they can, but they won't. times like these i wish cancer on THOSE people.
ossiaxevion: because I didn't have a referral from the first doctor (starting in January) they won't cover anything until I see the new one
You have every right to fight this. Tbh, I wish I'd fought for insurance when I went through all my health shit. But, in the past 8 years, I've paid down 94k of dr's bills, down to about $7500 now.
Talk to a lawyer. Because that sounds fishing as hell.
I know I could but I don't know if I can handle dealing with the stress of all of this
you need a health advocate Amy

is there someone in your family that can help you with this??
I would get a lawyer to fight it for you, Amy. You need to focus on going to your appointments and getting well and the lawyer's job is to fight it so you don't have to.
You'll either be fighting for them to pay your medical, or you'll regret not doing it. Hindsight is something that's 20-20, and I don't want you to look back and be angry at yourself that you didn't fight. <3
My doctor mentioned once about the hospital helping out, so I'll talk with him the next time I see him. But I can't afford a lawyer =/
There are some that might help pro bono or only ask for a minimal sum after the case is won.
I'll talk to my parents as well, I just don't think I could handle this alone
no way that is ruduclous that pisses me off
Let someone help you fight this and you just focus on getting your treatment that's all you need to worry yourself with
If I'm not able to sort things out with the billing department I definitely will look into it. I just can't afford to pay those bills and I really can't afford to pay a lawyer
And you need your chemo. How do they not grasp this?
That second link I posted is specifically for folks who can't afford a lawyer.
I'll be okay, my doctor has given me time off before and it's only 2 weeks before my next appointment
I can only echo everyone else and their anger. Love you lots
I just wish I could hug you and kick some people... This enrages me. I'm quite literally shaking. Shit like this is just uncalled for, especially when someone's health and life is at risk.
It just makes no sense to me.
I've been having chemo off and on for the past year+ and I need to see a doctor that I have no connection to at all so she can make a referral to my doctor that I've been seeing through this whole thing?
....What the heck. This angers me. I'm so sorry you had to deal with this, Amy. Ughh
good god, and people wonder why people say our health care system is broken. I'm so sorry
this makes me rage. I mean, I know people are jerks, so yanno, the rest of us can't have nice things
but when you end up punishing good people that need help, you know the system is totally buggered.
I'm sure you'll find a way around this. It'll just take some problem-solving. I'm really kind of seething that you have to deal with this in the first place

ugh
So... the insurance agency sent you to a doctor that doesn't exist? Wow. What fraudsters
Since they sent you to a Dr you can't see then they are at fault and can be forced to cover the visits. They made demands and you tried to
Follow them so their screw up sounds like breach of contract of sorts to me. You need to get supervisors involved.
