thinking that for $50, the integration with my existing ecosystem is probably worth it. I need to rewatch some usability videos of the iWatch to see if it's more right-wrist friendly than the Pebble time.
having used a smart wearable for a few months now, the value prop for the Apple watch is really unclear to me.
Notifications while the phone is across the room and a boatload of extra sensors are totally worth it.
but they've removed some sensors, it has less battery life, and all the extras gained are things I've removed.
Email is better on a phone. Occasional apps are better on a phone.
so I'd say definitely a Pebble. 10 days of battery makes it a usable sleep and fitness tracker.
turns out the $50 extra gets you an apple watch without a band, and the ones that don't look like Swatches start at $250. For the band.
now that I'm reviewing the featureset, I think 'wait and see' and possibly 'spend the money on a trip to the Mediterranean' is the correct call.
I think the use case for a fitness tracker is clear
I think the use case for a notification extension to your phone is clear.
the use case for "mini-phone"... or something... for massively increased cost is less clear
that said, Apple is generally good at landing a product where that's super unclear to the faithful, then building it in over time
there are already games for it, to be available on launch day. I don't desire a fitness tracker or mini-phone, but maybe that changes after I read email on it, or have an FB chat with it taking dictation.
Maybe. Payment and digital keys could have potential.
I find voice dictation useful in some situations. Totally extraneous in others. It's nice to have the option.
