So I have this gestational diabetes class to go to today. Yesterday they call me saying they don't have the proper pre authorization for the class. So I call my ob.

They say that needs to come from my primary care physician. Which would have been nice to know last week when I scheduled the class

So I call my pcp and the girl there has no idea what a pre authorization is. She asks if I mean a referral. I say I have no idea,pre authorization is the term the hospital used.

Then she says she can do a referral I say fine...she wants to know the dr in charge of the class I have no clue but here's the ob that ordered it. She says she'll send it.

I call the hospital an hour later...no word so I get their direct fax number and there isn't a specific dr running the class.

Call the pcp back the office lady hasn't sent it yet, give her the fax number...wait wait wait

This morning the hospital still didn't have the pre authorization so they called my pcp...

Ugh so frustrated right now because something with paperwork always fucks me over

But! Hospital just called back so I can go! Better eat breakfast

pre-auth usually = referral as far as insurance companies are concerned

I know this frustration though.... twice for the orthopedic specialist, once for PT, once for my diabetes ed class, once for my psych.....

the last month has been circles and circles and hoops on fire for the damned insurance company
