ok it's called empire, it's about this guy (lucious lyon) who built a music empire called empire (so original lucius) with drug money that his wife cookie went away and did 17 years time for

now she's out and their three sons are being pit against each other to decide who's going to run the company when their dad dies because he has als ayup

oh man and that one just came out

(this is first episode stuff, not very spoilery but i apologize if you wanted to watch and find out for yourself)

no it's cool I'm 50/50 on whether or not I'll pick up a show at any given time so I'm not too fussed about spoilers

spoilers tend to make me interested enough to watch the show in the first place

yup. so the oldest is bipolar and has no musical talent, the middle child is gay and sings like a babe, and the youngest is just a little butt face but raps wicked well
EMPIRE | "No Apologies" from "The Outspoken King"

so the dad picks the youngest to mentor as his successor, where as the mom is like NUH UH and gets shares in the company and supports the middle child, and the eldest is PISSED because he's super smart

and he and his wife go out to sabotage his brothers

cue further complications and drama, it's S O great

it sounds super rad

if you get bored, 11/10, full demi recommendation
