It was only disclosed after we resigned the contract to have it in the same hotel Next year. How in the hell are we supposed to get a catering license in a week??
I personally talked with the woman explaining what we were doing and what we needed for the Grand Tea and she assured me everything would be just fine. I'm seeing RED!
I'm hoping this is lack of communications on their side, and not a plain sight attempt to have them cater that program item.
They told us we could have it in a private suite rather than in the convention space, but then wanted to charge us an additional $3600 for the space.
will you be able to have a sit-down with them to get this sorted out?
Right now we're looking to move the tea off site. This is a complete cluster.
you hugs, and sends her best barista death glare at the hotel.
Damn, damn, damn! The hotel should know by now that CLEAR and PRECISE communication down to the last detail is needed, with any group. (yes I deal with hotels for campus events).
Does anyone have any connections at a small cafe, or possibly have a BIG patio or living room?
Seriously, I am seeing red too. They SHOULD offer you to private suite at no extra charge to make this right.
There's nobody you know with a catering license that could help cover this? Friend of a friend of a cousin or something?
They should be working to make this right.
We've gone hunting for someone with a catering license to no avail. But what we DID find was an alice in wonderland park near the hotel that's attached to a museum who is willing to let us have a tea party.
So now just to pray to the powers that be that the weather doesn't turn bad!
That sounds really good! (Did you ask your local SCA group too?)
ALICE? So perfect! Maybe this was meant to be all along. Crossing everything for good weather, and I think someone should get pics at this venue.
That's the plan! They are letting us use it for free if they get to have photos.
I'll post some here after the event!
I LOVE THE ALICE PEOPLE! So much nicer than the Asshat Hotel!
Some prelim pictures of the venue... oh, and of my hubby's backside. Sorry!
That Mad Hatter tea party sculpture is wonderful.
