So is this basically just for shouting into the void? Like Twitter?

If you want, I can hook you up with some of the GSers on my timeline.
But yes, Plurk is like twitter in that sense.
Though it's a little more structured than Twitter because Plurk'll track replies to a specific top-level Plurk and such.

So if a really epic plurk happens or whatever, you can just Like the whole plurk as opposed to individual tweets and such.

Twitter can definitely be a hot mess for long threads, so that sounds nice. And, yeah, if you know anyone I'd know, lemme, uh, know!
I'll get you a quick rundown of Plurk formatting in a bit, too.
Linking things is kind of odd on here.

Haha, yeah, it's the pains of learning a new site, I guess.
It definitely took some time for me to get used to.
Oh, you can click on the little "says" thing next to your name in the Plurk response box and it brings up alternate options for it, as well as an option for leaving it out entirely.
Sometimes Plurk will put it in automatically if you start out your response with the appropriate word, though, like...
no fucks about anything every.

Oh yeah, I see. Haha, like old-school Facebook.
Man, I feel old that I can actually remember when we used to have to work around Facebook's status update phrasing.

I recently remembered the existence of Pieces of Flair. The nostalgia was real.
......holy shit I remember that too.

Back in the good ol' days... waves her cane
So if you click on that, that'll bring you to another window to show the rest of the text.
If you copypasta something into Plurk that exceeds character limits, it'll bring up the Plurk Paste option.

So what's the formatting commonly used for actions?
Also, FYI, do be careful about making too many top-level plurks in a row, as it's considered "spamming" by others.

Ah, I see. Interesting.
Clicking on your name in the upper right corner will bring up a bevy of more options.
You can change your user picture, your username and its display color, and so forth.
That's under "profile settings."
