Oh yeah. ToK's lifeblood is pretty much RPing. And ragging on each other's taste in anime.

Indeed, in the other direction, I didn't realize Dreamwidth was still alive and kicking. XD

Dreamwidth has been most of my RPing for a while now, honestly XD Though I'll admit I've been fairly out of the loop for about a year now.

(I have played Ivan and strongly considered playing Jenna somewhere at some point, though I haven't actually done so)

ToK is forum-based RPing, and we don't usually have RPs where canon characters show up, except for Rumble, which is a multi-fandom fighting game with RPing interludes.

OC's are my jam too XD Honestly I'm more used to playing OC's than canon characters by far.

Dreamwidth is just a bit odd in that it's slanted way heavier towards canon characters rather than OC's.

For me, if I was gonna RP canon characters, I'd be more inclined to just write fanfic.

But that's just personal preference.

I used to think that, but crosscanon RP can get interesting because then you're introduced to CR you might never have thought of through just by fanfic alone.

You lose an element of control compared to fanfic when writing canon characters, which is both frightening and exciting.

CR? And by crosscanon do you mean the same as multifandom? Because I have done that with Rumble, and I'll admit it can be pretty fun! Although I still just RPed with myself, just across fandoms. XD

CR = character relationship(s)

It basically just describes the interaction between two characters.

And I guess crosscanon CR is probably the same as multifandom, I think, if I'm understanding you correctly.

("CR" is also apparently another term for the bathroom in the Philippines -- it stands for "comfort room.")

But yeah, if I say my character has CR with your character, then it's just me saying that the two have some sort of established interaction.

Sometimes it's based in things that got threaded out, sometimes it can be assumed based on the situation.

dear_mun is kind of a meta/fourth-wall-breaking RP community where characters address their player for various things.

Ah... The RPing culture of journal sites has always confused me. ^^; I think I get it?

The Piers in question had been in a game at the time and I think that was where he discovered that that world was round.

And then he brought that revelation to Isaac.

And both of them were just completely floored.

Yeah, it can be a lot to take in.

Relatedly, IDK if you use the term "mun" over at the Temple, but in DWRP it's short for "mundane" and refers to the RPer.

We just, like, say RPer. ^^; Usually there's only one or two active RPs at a time, and we just talk directly to each other about stuff. Smaller community, I guess.

People have gone on about whether DWRP is dying because so many of the old games have closed or are in endgame right now and the standard community for game/character ads is nowhere near as active/full as

it used to be.

It's certainly the end of an era, but hell, there's still RP stuff on LJ even after the great DWRP migration, so.

I might have to one day consider it, I've always loved playing with OC's though I've never tried to come up with one based anywhere in the Golden Sun setting before...

Temple's a really good place for that, honestly. We have Templeverse, which is a shared canon for the forum, but there are other spin-offs of GS canon, plus some wholly canon RPs too.

And a lot of people make up a Templesona, which is basically you as an Adept, since we have joinable clans and stuff.
