Forgot my password to my desktop and don't have a reset disc. I would reformat it had I a disc to reformat it with.

This is what I use to reset passwords on Windows computers. You can even make a boot disk/cd/flashdrive out of it.

The program will
remove
the password from your Windows account. Afterwards you'll have to go into the Control Panel and set a new one, if needed.

Then go make
two
reset discs and put them in two different places. Better safe than sorry!

Yes, or a USB flash drive if you have one of those. You may want to get a more tech-savvy friend to help you with this since there isn't much hand-holding and the documentation is a bit old.
