a sensitive shampoo and slept with him, only to wake up where he was too weak to relieve himself in yard and wobbling because he couldn't keep his balance
Luckily I took him to the vet in time and the vet said the early response + the second bath saved his life, because most owners dont realize until the dogs start to seize or worse
He had shots to counteract the pesticide in the shampoo but my vet was very clear: Hartz KILLS animals
Pup is still lethargic but at least he's got enough spunk back in him to bark and be an ill behaved little shit, for that I'm glad: but I am livid that they sell these things in markets
entire websites are dedicated to warning consumers about hartz products, I wish I had known, I almost lost my dog.
ugh, i'm happy you caught it. unfortunately, poison to fleas usually also means potentially poison to the animals who get fleas :/
thank you for sharing. I'd never thought to look, you kind of assume its safe when it's sold as flea shampoo
How can they even sell this? I'm shocked there hasn't been a class action law suit against Hartz.
I only found out the same because I had a severe allergic reaction to it years ago when I washed my dog. The ER doctor told me the same. I won't even go near it, now.
Advantage flea meds ate a hole in my dog's back. It was horrible.
I am so glad you caught it. I can't believe Hartz is still on the market after how many pets they have killed.
Poor pup, it's not his week. I'm so glad he's ok.
Wow I'm so glad he's ok, you're a great puppy mummy! I can't believe they're still sold!!
Thanks everyone <3 I am looking into alternatives for flea treatments now. I have never been in a place where fleas were a problem, the weather and wildlife here has thrown us all for a loop
i have a pest service that keeps the fleas outside down pretty well- had a bit of an outbreak when some work outside needed to be done and a lot of dirt got brought into the yard. it was very frustrating to
deal with- lots of baths for the pup (who loves them, so he was happy), and obsessive cleaning inside- i eventually had to have the inside sprayed though. BUT, i could do that when all the pets were away for
a few days, so i could air the place out and clean again before they came back so they weren't around as much of it.
(and i boxed up the entire contents of the kitchen and all foodstuffs around the house and put it in plastic bins outside of the house for the spraying)
I wonder why nobody sued them? this is scary! We use the "frontline" drops for our dog and he's never had any bad reactions. I hope your dog will recover soon :/
Ugh I'm so sorry, that stuff is horrible

Yeah, florida has had some bad flea outbreaks the last couple of years, according to our vets. I'm glad you caught it in time, though.
