A slight hint: The name Tomodachi Tree bears no reference to the inspiration for it.
That's what I was thinking is there's nothing like that in Tomodachi Life - my daughter is obsessed with that damn game.

While the event is anime, the inspiration for the Tomodachi tree is not really anime. It is originally Japanese though!
