or have fought people over...
TBH most of my fandom fighting has been in fate/ cry
I HAVE A BIG THING ABOUT LIKING SHITTY CHARACTERS but wanting people to characterize them right
so ide the amount of Tokiomi meta I've spouted, but it seems like as time went on more people got on that boat and I stopped being a rare defender there but HAHA
PEOPLE WHO THINK HE'S A LEGIT EVIL MASTERMIND WHO CARES ABOUT NOTHING
his not being one is what makes his horribleness extra horrible come on now
I guess i would fight over half the fate/ main timeline cast tho
I also fight about Kida a lot in DRRR esp because there's such a weird divide between people who only watched the anime/watched the anime and glanced at the wiki for novel summaries up through vol 8
vs people who actually read the novels
because anime-only fans just can't seem to let go of 1st cours characterization for anything
and I've gotten anonslammed for not playing him like he's from vol 1 when he was from vol 13
and I will fight people who act like he's a poor innocent baby and blame his own bad actions on the people around him too like
izaya's responsibility blame on him yeah but kida made choices too so it's also on him. and blaming saki pretty much always leads to weird fandom misogyny
...so I guess I would fight for saki too
I WOULD FIGHT FOR MOST CHARACTERS GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY I like meta debates
ons fandom has been mostly good so far but I'm ready to fight the Ferid apologists but EVEN MORE because Ferid apology is just obvious, I want to fight the people
in gureshin fandom who are so desperate for a stereotypical top/bottom dichotomy that they act like Shinya is a soft delicate princess
they most delicate princess
like come on the appeal of the ship is that they are constantly bickering in a married couple way and giving each other shit
you're the first person he has ever loved
don't break his pure maiden heart
and when they AREN'T throwing totally even punches, it's SHINYA who has been the one who is more overbearing and "toppy"
but really liek idc who they want to top but I hate the weird yaoi manga esque need for whoever is taking it to be wibbly and soft and submissive
like why does their entire relationship dynamic go out the window as soon as shippy things start happening???
and in the novels the entire beginning of their relationship was like
Shinya bullying the fuck out of Glen
trying to FORCE him to be his friend
because they had a common interest like it was
he just steamrollered him constantly while being told to fuck off
and then got mad when Glen didn't turn out to be the hero he expected
Shinya has almost killed Glen at least twice in the novel
Shinya this isn't how friends are made????
but yeah I. I still am like, SHINYA REALLY.... WANTED. GLEN. TO BE THE HERO. read way too much shounen manga.
STOP PRETENDING TO BE A WUSS, I'M GOING TO PUNCH YOU WITH LETHAL FORCE AND IF YOU DON'T DEFEND YOURSELF WITH YOUR REAL POWER YOU'LL DIE
shounen manga protagonists can TOTALLY dodge magic lightning bolts and deadly punches right
/glen does not defend himself with his real power
(glen really could have though, he just DIDN'T because Glen's a stubborn butt)
/only Mito cares when he starts hacking blood
their relationship from the start was not fluffy and Shinya was not a waify bottom like
they butt heads and it took a lot of trial and error to learn to be friends
first impression was literally Shinya electrocuting Glen
and I think they have a great dynamic and the trust they have in each other NOW is really important but it was built on some rocky foundations
and I feel like it cheapens it a lot to undermind that they're both bullheaded and give as good as they get
don't take that away from them
it's funny because they're similar in a lot of ways, especially in the stubbornness and like.... the fronting. but it's in a different way?
if we were skyping i'd be making hand motions about it you can't see
ALSO ON THE MEME TOPIC I kind of want to fight the HQ fans in ons that can't fucking shut up about calling Kimizuki "Pink Tsukki"
because YES THEY HAVE SIMILAR CHARACTER DESIGNS
so do a bunch of other characters in other series jesus fcking christ
have people stopped calling Yuu "Eren" yet
the yuu and eren jokes happen and the mika and slaine jokes happen
but not to the extent of the kimizuki ones
there's even someone who now makes edits every week turning kimizuki into tsukishima and pasting a yamaguchi standup in the background
idk for the first couple weeks i saw like, nothing but THIS IS JUST SHINGEKI NO KYOJIN AND YUU IS JUST EREN JAEGER
yeah that's gone away for the most part
PART OF IT'S..... AT LEAST, PROBABLY OUT OF
liking the character(s)/comes from a not-meaning-harm place (unlike people saying "it's just shingeki no kyojin") but
damn that sounds annoying
it's from enthusiasm and I get that
but after awhile it's just obnoxious
like a. stop clogging ons stuff with hq jokes because not everyone is in both fandoms and the assumption that they all are is rude
and b. it's fun to make comparisons right when you see a character but if all you have to say ever about that character is to compare them to a different one it gets old and you obviously don't
have any interest in the actual character you are posting about
and the super-comparisons tend to result in awful OOC fanworks and meta because people refuse to acknowledge that the character being compared isn't ACTUALLY just a palleteswap
and will just write them as if they are
and like, both Kimizuki and Tsukishima are tsun, but Tsukishima is frankly a dick in a lot of ways that Kimizuki is not
and I'm really not interested in a whole subset of fandom deciding to portray Kimizuki as a Tsukishima clone just because he also has short-cropped hair and glasses
i actually have had experience with that shit happening
honestly it made me hate the character that was being compared to the other one LMAO
this happens with ships a lot too, like people will be like X ship is this series' version of Y ship from my other fandom! and then will write X ship with Y ship's dynamic even though that's OOC
just because X and Y ships have one or two key tropes in common
