On the brought side getting his mangy tail rescued will humble him quite a bit towards his saviors so they at least won't have to deal with him mouthing off and/or trying to kill them in their sleep

He's also a dynamic character subject to change- show him kindness long enough and you may even get some in return

On the other hand if he got rescued by, say, mr golden lion... He'd probably join his crusade to take over the world lol
