I felt that way around 22. But then I lost that feeling around 30. lol
What was the first sign? For me it was probably the first time I did the right thing without expecting to be noticed for it.
I was 22, I was working, paying for my own college, and I found myself sitting in the eye doctor's office by myself for the first time and I thought "Man, this is some adult shit."
Optometrist. the place you go once a year until 18, then never again until 65
Yeah, I was on my own at 19, doing the work two jobs and put myself through college thing, but even then I didn't feel like an adult. For me it was 24, when I graduated from boot camp.
But around 30, I realized I didn't know anything and now I basically wish someone would hold my hand and tell me what to do half the time.
I moved out when I was 15. I was tending bar at 17. I felt like an adult when I was "legal" at 18.
I think I've noticed more like... Other people treating me like am adult... Like when I was traveling and my parents didn't freak out about it when I told them I was gonna do it
well maybe it was the day I decided I would rather stay home.. than go out on a friday night.. so 30 something?.. but I got a late start at doing stupid stuff
But when I got married, and we bought our house? That was some heavy shit. I had some severe anxiety about that.
But I still don't feel like an adult... All time I am checking myself cause I'm like oh yeah I can just do whatever
I totally don't. I feel like a 19 year old half the time and i wonder whether my parents' were just as ridiculous but better at hiding it.
Rofl, right. I thought of asking my mom this same question the other day
I identify with 17 year olds. I'm transage..ish or whatever. lol
Then you look around in your 30s and are like oh shit, all these people running stuff? they don't know what the fuck they're doing either
YES. IT'S A THING NOW. I'M DOING IT.
Yeah I'm like how are guys doing the thing, you're like younger than me how are you doing it
I don't. I'm 32 and I really really really don't, I completely feel like I'm winging it and someone's gonna find me out and take away my mortgage.
17 - I moved out of my house then, had a job, my own apartment (a studio basement apartment lol).
"Bad. BAD. This mortgage is sharp, people get hurt with these. Go play with your student investment account."
I have a feeling that in the middle ages, all of us would have been the lesson that others learned by.
LOL!! Ugh, for real. I drank so much in my 20s, I'm surprised I have a liver.
Cautionary tales, the lot of us
The internet saved our asses
Praising St. Netflix right now.
I get that. I'm 37 years old and I paint my nails in glitter and play with makeup at night when I'm not even going anywhere. I just feel like a "typical" adult wouldn't and that's why I feel younger than I am.
Every once in a while as i'm going out the door I look at the comics on my walls and the xbox controller on the coffee table and I thank God that I don't need outside approval anymore.
You can be an adult, and still act like a kid. I do it all the time. And yeah, I think being childless has helped me keep that quality.
Maybe? I also feel like because I don't work in a professional office any more, there's less.. need, I guess, to be so "adult."
I don't have to share my toys!
The one important change I think is not to ignore doctor's appointments anymore lol. Your brain might be 19 but the warranty ran out sometime in the 20sa
THAT is when I feel old. When the younger ones here are like "Omg, I was born in 1995" and I'm like.. you can go now.
yeah if you were born in a year that i have active memories from, you're impacting my reality distortion field
I hate that the music I listened to as a kid is now considered "Classic Rock".
Let me announce my perspiration
It's that the sweat thing
on the rack next to jeans with leather glued to it and british knights running shoes
Just waiting for huge bangs to come back into style and then I'ma school EVERYBODY on how to do them.
I finally had my bangs perfected when 1992 hit and everyone's hair got flat again.
Gonna get that Glamour Shots hair.
... i'm going to cut tyr off from storytime right now
for her own best interest
It honestly hit me when I had another person's life to look after at 29 and then plan a funeral on my own pretty much.
Yeah those are both solid reasons
making this uncomfortable but that's about when. I feel like early 20s though.
I fear other peoples' kids let alone my onw
"You want me to hold what?"
My bestie has 2 kids, 8 and 13, and she still has dreams about forgetting them in a closet.
This child of mine keeps me young. He gives me a valid reason to "test" fun toys lol
That jackass clip with the car seat on the roof is gold
19 when I started living on my own a long way away from home
Darth Vader helmets need complete testing!
Make sure it sounds right.
it's a weird feeling first time in a new country but you get used to it
I like that feeling of being in an unfamiliar place and getting lost
and finding my way around
I was in Mexico for 30 minutes
Grixdale: same. It's really why I wanna go somewhere for my birthday this year
I feel that and like... Just being alone is scary. Like how the fuck am I supposed to take care of myself in a strange place
By trouble I mean like REAL SERIOUS TROUBLE
But like wow I lost my wallet, AGAIN but this time no one's here to cover me
oh yeah, no not that kind. I meant like adrenaline rush/danger scenarios
HAHAHAHAHA yah nope never.
i still don't feel like an adult.
