Why does she even bother to come in. All she does is sit at her desk and crochet and play solitaire and sell her cats.
It's so incredibly frustrating.
She was all pissed too because we had super old nonfiction VHS tapes on Pittsburgh and according to her they were priceless???
(they probably didn't even play)
there anything to play with on left...
does anyone under the age of 95 still have a VHS player...
did you try explaining to her that vcr tapes have an expiration and they were probably well past that?
The point is, she never leaves her office. She was all butthurt that Tracey and I keep doing things like this without checking with her first
but it's a joke. she does nothing.
We also got rid of a ton of super outdated nonfiction books months ago and she has absolutely no idea.
Anyone that has eyes in their head can see how much more room we have. And she has absolutely no clue.
We had stuff from the sixties in the collection.
We are not a large library!
We were out of room for new, updated books.
Slay her in battle and become the new boss
I'd make a horrible boss. I'd just kick out all the people I don't like.
ooohhhhhh I like this train of thought... steeples fingers. :3
...off-topic just slightly but i actually had no idea vcr tapes expired. D:
VCR tapes run using magnetic strips, and all magnets slowly lose their charge with time as their alignment shifts back to "normal".
Dropping, heating, exposing to static and other things will make this happen faster too.
In order for a tape to last longer, it has to be played regularly. But if it's played too much it also throws the strip out of whack.
That's why old tapes when played look fuzzy at the edges or get bits of static.
DVDs also have expiration dates, but those are like 50 years or something. So yeah.
what's the story behind DVD expiration?
I think the film behind the plastic (there is a plastic layer protecting it on the bottom) slowly becomes tarnished and just becomes unreadable. Not entirely sure though.
Darn.
Granted, it was Audio CD and not DVD, but - a long time ago, I remember readin' something in a manual for one of those toting their longevity, that they provided a "lifetime" of enjoyment...
(actually that whole phrase should be in quotes but)
I guess it's very -nearly- correct
That's all really interesting, actually! Wow...
yeah... people like to brag wihtout really having proof to back them up. it's all too common.
i'm just a useless pile of vague and random facts.
