yes, so we can video game again!
Console gaming? Computer?
And are you going to connect to a TV? If so, does the gaming device in question output the correct signal? I don't know if HD is the same format the whole world 'round, but somehow I doubt it.
Looks like PAL/NTSC/SECAM still get involved with video signals, even in the HD world. :-/
I need to connect a ps3 and wii to power (i.e. 220), what do i do? How does this work? Is it possible? Halp.
ps- Coyote your whassup is brillant. You are a dashing man.
Is this case, whassdown? I guess
Ok, the PS3 is easy: all you need is a plug adapter from the USA NEMA plug to a French (or CENELEC) plug. Regardless of what the rating label says, the power supply is universal 100-240V 50/60Hz so you're good
(NOT a voltage converter, that is – not only not needed, it is contraindicated) just a travel plug adapter
Ben brings up a good point about the video output though – don't know about that, but at least you won't smoke anything; no danger
I believe the Wii power supply (RVL-002) is also universal 100-240v 50/60Hz and will also need only a plug adapter to function safely. Again, don't know about any video issues but no hazard issue there
When you say plug adapter + technical stuff do you just mean the standard travel guy that i'd use for my phone? Also explain the word contraindicated.
Yep I mean the very simple plug adapter that just changes the American blade plug to the French prong plug with no voltage magic at all.
What I meant regarding the PS3 and voltage converter is: don't use a voltage converter even if you have one; it might overheat. Just a plug adapter is all you need.
And from what i know, i havent heard any output problems with hd. It might happen, but i dunno.
Sorry to jump in with MOAR QUESTIONS but... is there any hope for my sewing machine working here? because I brought it. lol
On it, it says 120V 60Hz AC 60W. It's old and I can't any info on the model online except that, yes, it existed.
For what it's worth, it's a Brother sewing machine XL3100
It might work with a 230 to 120 V transformer, of sufficient size, but I don't know that I'd risk it. Motors designed for 60 Hz do not run very well at 50Hz: runs slow, loses power, overheat.
thank you
They DID make an XL3100 for the UK market that was properly rated and would work fine in France; you might look around!
This is just another "I should have left that at my mom's house" thing.
Maybe I will take my tiny record player home on the plane our next visit so I can bring books back with me that I accidentally left. Hah!
