So, my mom's physical yesterday revealed that her cholesterol is dangerously high, not surprising given our family history. She was given six weeks by her doc to lower it or she has to go on medication. :-o

It's a good push to get me back to the gym since I have a better chance of warding it off if I develop healthy habits now rather than later. We're gonna be long distance workout buddies and push each other!

oh wow! (cozy) At least they're giving her a chance to lower it a bit before making her take meds.

dragon_harrower: Yeah, she was pretty insistent on it and I would've done the same. I just hope she can be dedicated and I can help keep her on track too.

(cozy) If she can eat fiber, a high fiber diet will lower it. It did mine.

If it's a hereditary issue, meds may be the only way to lower it. I lost 55 pounds and was eating really healthily, exercising 5 days a week, and my numbers didn't budge until I went on meds.

my sister lost 10lbs and lowered her numbers. It was enough to keep her off meds.

I sure hope she can get it down without meds.
