A website posted a "before puberty" and "after puberty" pic of an actor to show he went from a fat kid to a hot teen cause yay puberty!

Which is not generally how that works at all (I get that for some it does), but makes me angry because I worked with him and know the

insecure about his body/appearance thanks in large part to the shaming he endured looking how he did in Hollywood before the weight loss.

ahhhh this is why I generally don't talk about celebrities... I feel uncomfortable with it, they're people with their own lives

I'm just uncomfortable with the whole spectator aspect of it, like watching animals in a zoo, honestly.

they just always get something wrong (unsure)

I hate those kinds of things in general (because sucks for anyone who doesn't look like the "after"), but obv it being semi personal.. Ugh.

Yesss. I hate paparazzi and the obsession with celebrity and celebrity culture. :|

lol yeah shallow people gonna be shallow, perpetuating negative body image is gonna perpetuate. but being personal is another story

I actually have a hard time even when reading fic porn if it's about a live action series, I have to mentally divest myself from the actors and approach it like it's literature only

I feel too weird about it otherwise LOL

like certain parts of insanejournal just wholesale freak me out with the amount of celeb obsession

I have to totes separate the character from the actor. Which, fortunately, I'm p good at? Unless I know them well. Then it's harder.
I think it's the idea that it's a little like animals being watched by the public is the reason that when I have been within mere feet of a celebrity that I've shied away on approaching them.

I'm sure it's easier since you actually know a lot of them

I remember a doc called them "parasocial" relationships, where it's one-sided with a firm belief in closeness. Freaks me out.

People feel entitled to something with complete strangers somehow???

and yeah I'm not sure I'd ever approach one either. if it was one of the handful I really have a lot of respect for, I'd probably say something just to say that, but...

a lot of them actually don't do this in order to be sex objects. s h o c k e r

chirality: Haha, sort of. I still feel weird with Karl Urbans. He's the most common. xD
ringer

A lot of them don't want the fame or at least don't do it for the fame. Like poor Chris Evans. :c

Who gets so frustrated that people obsess about him for popcorn flicks instead of watching his films "that matter"

HAHA I do know that about Chris Evans, he didn't even really want to play Cap afaik

anytime anyone tries to 'judge' someone based on whether they're formerly heavy and getting skinny or vice versa (or any sort of combo of it) they're getting it wrong regardless.

it makes me even more upset when it's a celeb they're doing it to bc like... those who struggle with issues of weight can be signficant role models for the fans who do too

so to just say LULZ PUBERTY totally belittles the progress made and undermines any potential for someone to take something positive away from the experience and it's just WRONG

waytogomybro: Of course. Because they don't want the full story, they just want peeps to look hot. Doesn't matter how it happens.
ringer

Doesn't matter if Henry Cavill is contracted to have all his meals sent to Fin him by the studio for 3 months or if Demi Levato has bulimia,

at least they're hot! No measure is too extreme! /sarcasm

Oh and obviously shaming is the answer, especially if they're comfortable with their body WITHOUT being super skinny/built.

I'm also sick of plus size only being okay if they're super sexualized, like Christina Hendricks

it's not really a step in the right direction if all the positive attention focuses on T&A, guys

That's a good point. ScarJo was the same way. AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON HENDRICKS BEING A "FAT ACTRESS."
