[movies] Literally watched Joy twice in a row today for the lulz. Well, one was for work, one was for the lulz because my friend was working it.
I'm very grateful that I have almost a week's break between my second viewings of Macbeth and Revenant. Also my third viewing of Joy.
It's fun! Not as comedic as some of his others, but not as dramatic as Fighter either. Somewhere in between. Strangely I liked it a lot more the second time, haha.
That's kind of how I felt about American Hustle too, actually. Once to get over expectations and get the story, then a second time to actually enjoy the performances and subtleties.
It's a little uneven and not quite as good as I was hoping, tbh, but still a great movie. I just wanted more comedy out of it.
I still don't know how to feel about his obsession with Jennifer Lawrence playing roles she's honestly a bit too young to play.
I think she's old enough to play these roles most of the time, but it's incongruous to see her playing a 17-year-old and a 30-year-old in the same month.
she's a highlander. THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE it-girl actress and she must meet all related media demands.
I admit she looks a little young but I feel like she's a strong enough actress that she pulls it off and I don't mind it.
Tbh I'd rather see Jennifer Lawrence playing a 35-year-old than someone like Cameron Diaz or Kirsten Dunst take the role. :|
Also David O'Russell is fucking crazy and a jackass. So there's that.
I couldn't get over how young she looked in Silver Linings Playbook. It really messed with the suspension of disbelief.
But yeah, David O Russell is a total jackass. Did you see his comments about equal pay for women in Hollywood?
No. Link? I had a friend who worked with him tell me stories, haha. He's awful.
(Which is to say, I wonder how many actors will deal with him, let alone repeatedly.)
