Has anyone on my timeline ever gone to a beauty school salon? My stylist is great but expensive. Is it worth the risk to try saving probably half the cost at a school?

We have plenty of schools to choose from here. Aveda, Paul Mitchell, and a few smaller places.

I desperately need my hair cut and colored before graduation so I won't look like a hot mess in pictures and at interviews.

I have been a model at several hairdressers. each time I said leave enough hair that if hubby didn't like, I could go elsewhere to see a professional

my co-mother-in-law always gets her hair cut and colored at her local beauty college. If you want something fairly simple, you could probably do that. But start early in case of accidents!

It should be a simple single process color and just cutting off about a foot and adding long layers. That's not too bad right?

knitcroc: Good idea!

I have, and I was happy enough to follow the student when she graduated. Tip is to study the style of the school because they teach their own styles.

heylisa: Good call. I like the pictures that are on their Facebook page and the guy I talked to tonight was great, even putting me with a student who does well on long hair. (goodluck)

I have for a perm. It didn't work well, but my hair tends to be a pain, so I don't blame them. Have gotten a nice cut at one before.

I had mine done at our local Aveda and had a great experience. Everyone else that I've known that goes there said similar positive things.

I used to go to the Aveda school when I lived in Minneapolis. I have a very easy cut, though, so it wasn't a big deal.

I have, but I wasn't looking for a difficult cut/color.
