(Unpopular opinion: Oscar's edition)

Every year the Oscar nominations come out and there are a few movies I've never heard of and I don't follow it too much
But apparently everyone is butthurt because it's the second year in a row that no people of color have been nominated
Like enough for people to start talking about boycotting the Oscar's

But have they done anything worth being nominated? Or did I just miss it?

I don't keep up with Oscar bait movies (I'm surprised Mad Max got nominated at all) but from what I've heard there were movies on the ballot with POC in them (Idris Elba in Beasts of No Nation was mentioned)

but not really that many. It's a combination of bias among the people casting the votes (some people have admitted to not watching the movies they're voting on and going off poster art) and the fact that POC

aren't getting cast in the sorts of movies that are going to be up for Oscar nods. So it's a two fold problem.

Because if the POC aren't getting the roles for those movies, well of course they aren't going to be nominated. So there's bias among the film makers in Hollywood (no surprise there) as well as
