Chrono comes in two flavors: age 14, from MGLN and A's, and age 24, from StrikerS, where he's on screen maybe three times all season.

I played an AU of him in StE; that was Kevin, PB'd as this:

That said, BNW's environment seems better suited to kid!Chrono than otherwise.

So that's what I'm shooting for.

Part of my dilemma is Clyde - Chrono's father was killed in a MacGuffin accident when he was little, but I don't have access to said MacGuffin to explode him in this setting. So I have to cheat a bit.

I might have him be a Ranger and become a tragic casualty of... something. I dunno, history's still up in the air a little.

As for Chrono's spellcraft, though, I've got a few answers there.
