Perhaps it's just my selective memory but I can't seem to recall Goku resorting to lying quite so much in DBZ.

Even when he was wanting to train Gohan to fight Cell, he didn't bother trying to hide it.

Chichi didn't like it, but she got it.

Now it's almost like he's going through a mid-life crisis and trying to ditch his family at every opportunity.

As much as I love Gohan, I'm kind of wishing they'd just let him drift off into the sunset with his family.

But they can't cause he's part Saiyan.

Maybe they have some sort of plan for him, but the scene with him in ep 30 was kind of disheartening.
