[The Magicians]
TV show = fun, diverse, witty, great chars!
book = self-indulgent, misogynistic, told by narrator with a victim complex

I'm going to finish the stupid thing if it kills me, but if I read one more unnecessary description of someone's breasts, I might burn it.

allikateor: The two are quite different. I legit only decided to read the book because of considering apping Penny and he's completely different anyway, so now it's just stubborn determination. A+ show.

communism: Dude discovers magic is real and goes to magic school. But it's all modern and pseudo-realistic. There's a "Beast" dude who's terrorizing things. And a book series that's kinda like Narnia called

It's hard to explain very well, but it's fun. Julia's plotlines are kinda awful imo, but I like the stuff with the main group.

I really enjoyed it as a casual watch, like Lost Girl or Once Upon a Time (in its early years) or something.
