Tell me again how you need more fabric?? Because that's always the argument, for charging more for plus size.
Like regular sizes (on some items, admittedly not all) is S-3XL. Plus sizes are "0-6" which is the equivalent of L-6XL or something.
So like.. literally the highest regular sizes and the smallest plus sizes are roughly the same measurements.
Charging more for plus size is a sham to begin with, but I really don't understand what Hot Topic's mindset is.
man I saw that on the SW line and was trying to figure it out. Like what possible reason???
i can see their logic (more fabric = bigger cost) but it's still discriminatory because under that logic every larger size would carry an increased price
i don't see any store increasing the price for larger regular sizes
And also like a $10 hike on a bikini for plus size? Come on. It's barely more fabric.
yeah, plus fabric is so cheap in bulk (unless it's a major designer) the cost is so negligible
yeah somehow i really doubt they're losing money on extra fabric there =|
It's a total sham because options are so limited for plus size (although it's slowly getting better) that we'll pay it. :|
clothing you tend to be paying for the work/label and the actual material is a fraction of the cost
yeah it's so expensive

I mean like they have to put more thought into the design of plus size clothing but especially when it's the same clothes line like this it's such a rip off.
Torrid is so much more expensive than hot topic -- and the plus sized sw collections are coming from them, even though they are owned by the same parent organization
Yeah. I love torrid but hot damn are they expensive. But I pay them because they actually have cute designs and FIT WELL and not like a damn box. Looking at you Rue 21
yeah exactly :c I pay them bc it's cute and it fits well and makes me look good but DAMN
ah man this. its so incredibly frustrating when you're charged more just because of your weight. i try not to buy from places with that mentality if i can avoid it
Torrid is too expensive for me. I tend to do Old Navy, H&M, occasionally Express's button downs, Hot Topic, and then random.
Some really nice store just started crying plus sizes for similar prices, but I forget which one. Charlotte Russe , I think
To be fair, I used to do Lane Bryant for nice clothes but now that's stupid expensive too most of the time.
yeah, the way to do lane bryant is to sign up for their emails and wait for the deals
they have a lot of daily sales that you just don't know about otherwise
Agreed. That's how I do VS bras too. And Torrid, when I do. Even Hot Topic, really.
Oh I didn't realize they have daily deals too! Thanks for the tip
lycanthropy101: Oh also thanks for explaining. I was so confused. But Hot Topic vs Torrid makes sense, especially with the numbering system.
Torrid I wait for coupons, and JC Penny has some cuter plus clothes, especially in the junior plus, which I can fit into, and they're usually fairly cheap
Torrid usually always has discounts and coupons though, and their clearance stuff is usually a decent price, you just have to be sure that you won't return it because all sales are final.
I thought they were expensive too, but lately I've gotten a lot of cute things for a really low prices.
swanning: That's good to know! I know they have sales, but even those seem kinda pricey to me. I didn't think about clearance and didn't know about coupons.
I do like a lot of their stuff, just can't justify the expense.
If you do coupons on the clearance you can get a lot for the money tbh
I'm part of the Torrid Insider thing, so I get quite a few coupons through the mailing list, and you get special discounts for anniversaries and birthdays
they have a lot of good online coupons, which is where i get most of my clothes from them since I know my size
the best coupons are only online though, and I ship free to store. The store deals really aren't that great....
Yeah I buy online but sometimes I'll size things in the store
Their active wear is REALLY tight as an FYI. Get SEVERAL sizes up in that if you want to be comfy
Good to know! I don't look at them online much so I'll give it a shot
