[life] So... I'm looking into Amazon's self-publishing for my Age of Sail series.

Better to be proactive than whine about money issues that are my fault entirely.

Does anyone know if I can publish by chapter?
Straight Amazon/kindle publishing doesn't really so serial fiction. But Write On by Kindle seems like what they're using for that now

Cool. I decided to just set it for preorder to give myself a deadline for editing.

Do you know what their line between adult content (allowed) and pornography (disallowed) is?

It just kind of says "There's a line, but we're not saying what it is"
I think it's subjective so they can't just lay it out in simple terms. But typically pornography is sex for the sake of sex with the intent to arouse
Where as not-pornography the sex informs and advances the story

It's extremely aggravating. If they'd used the word erotica, I'd know the line.

Because there is a difference between erotica and pornography. But it's a thin line.
If it follows the rules of regular Amazon, erotically is totally allowed

IT'S SO HARD TO TOE THAT LINE.

Ah well.
I feel you. The story I'm wanting to get out there deals with heavy BDSM stuff. So I have the same concerns

One of mine is supernatural, occult erotica.
Reading the guidelines feels like it's totally fine to post that stuff since adult marked stories are not publicly visible

Right.
Upon further reading and consideration, I'm assuming that as long as it's not "all smut all the time" it's okay. And the worst that will happen is a story gets taken down.
I'm gonna finish editing chapter one of mine soon to test it out
