anyway, they live alone on the moon and sigma still works like a motherfucker, so the kid has zero human contact and just teaches himself with books and software.

but books are dangerous when you're a weird alone kid, you read about things like mothers and wonder why you don't have one, so you ask your dad about it and he builds you a robot to be your mom.

because your dad is totally socially adjusted and this is a good substitute right

of course kyle hates the thing and just avoids them both after that

then a nice lady appears who isn't a robot! she's here for sigma's research but doesn't help him 24/7, so she's just kind of there sometimes. this is like the first human being other than sigma kyle's ever seen

so with nothing better to do she chats with kyle about everything and anything, and eventually gets him and sigma to play nice. they eat together and actually hang out and talk and it's great for a while

and kyle gets all invested in sigma's research finally and starts helping out and is like WHOA this is great spending time with my dad what a time to be alive

and then at some point he overhears that he's just a replacement for sigma, so of course all the encouragement towards the research/his father feels suddenly like a load of shit they just needed him to do

also this nice woman who he started to view as a mother needs to die as part of this research, which is nice

so naturally kyle proceeds to try and destroy everything they've been working on, and sigma locks him up in his room for the rest of the project

and then drugs him to forget all of this so he can be part of the project you play through in VLR
