So, on the last day of school this most recent year, his teacher sent home with every kid a little kit where they could write letters to her and then she would write them back, like pen pals.
Included a self-addressed stamped envelope and everything.
So, Adrian wrote her a letter about his summer so far... And when I asked him about it, realized, to his horror, that he didn't put a return address on the envelope.
So... I think I'll have to email his teacher and give her our address so he can get mail back.
He said he didn't know he had to do that.
Which... in fairness, I don't think he's ever mailed a letter before.
A lot of people don't anymore. I know they taught us how to address an envelope when I was a kid, but I have a feeling it's just not a thing these days.
He worked so hard on the letter too. I just hope said teacher checks her LPS email during summer, because that's the only way I know of to reach her.
(hopefully she'll at least think of it when she doesn't see a return address)
Hopefully when she gets the letter it occurs to her that kids don't know about addressing envelopes -- they are growing up in an entirely different era than their teachers did. She can add. . .
a letter-addressing lesson next year.
And Adrian didn't ask anyone to make sure everything was right before he put it in the mailbox.
No! Don't letters just go where they're supposed to, of their own accord?
at least it was self-addressed so that's one less thing to worry about
Yes. Adrian had the idea of sending her a second letter with the return address on it. I asked if he had copied down his teacher's address from the envelope.
doh
maybe someone else in the class hasn't sent it out yet or did copy it down?-
...I am not going to contact all of his classmates to track down his teacher's address.
Adrian didn't have any super close friends in his class this year, I didn't think.
Yeah. He has friends, but... About the only ones he plays with otherwise are his cousins and my coworker's daughter.
