(I love them. They're awful.)
He's so good at this, clearly. Both of them are.
Social skills, what are those?
Neither one of them even knows.
Most people might think: "I'm getting glared at. Maybe I said something wrong."
Near thinks: "I'm getting glared at. This is normal."
Yeah, it's not like Near has pointed out Mello has been mishandling people here or anything.
And. He's not wrong, but. That doesn't mean he knows what he's doing.
Near probably shouldn't be walking around totally unarmed, really.
Surely even he can't miss something at touch-range, right?
It can go either way whether he knows how atrocious Near's aim is.
It would actually be hilarious if Near had to explain this.
"Mello, I'm not kidding. I can't aim worth shit."
Mello thinking that it can't be that bad, no worse than an average untrained shot. And Near is so damn precise with everything he does. Probably just a perfectionist's exaggeration.
Ironic headcanon: Near can't aim worth shit but he's a really good catch.
How that happens, who knows?
I mean, I think Near would explain exactly how bad a shot he is.
"I had a dartboard set up in my old headquarters. I failed to make a successful shot from two feet away."
Just to drive home how wasteful it would be to give him projectile weapons.
You'd think projectiles are an ideal weapon for such a marshmallow. But Near just sucks so bad with them.
He really doesn't attack that often, when you think about it.
I mean, sometimes he does. But other times it's just disagreeing with his methods. And others, it's just meant as teasing.
And sometimes . . . it's trying to help.
What does Mello hear? Criticism. Insult.
"Here's some extra info to help you safely carry out your plan." "Do you want me to draw up schematics for you, Near?"
"That block will fit best." "... Do you want to finish this, Near?"
He builds a million things out of (toy) bricks, okay. He knows his shit.
