I think I have it narrowed down to these four shades
(There are a few others that I want but I'll wait until I'm working again)
I'm gonna have a million lipsticks at this rate
Contouring and highlighting is still a foreign world for me. I'm probably gonna go to ULTA and have them teach me
I'm still learning makeup myself. My routine is stupid simple
Yes please all the recs most of my stuff is drugstore stuff rn because money but
colourpop is tricky to get in the uk
omg ty for this entire plurk
I'm a complete UD junkie, but a lot of my favourite brands are american
ive just started getting into makeup....
so it's time to start collecting fun and versatile shades c:
TooFaced is amazing, and we have a small selection of their stuff in a UK department store. I LOVE Sugarpill, but it's pricey. A number of uk sellers import though so it's easier to get
-- I HIGHLY recommend Sugarpill for messing around with bright eyeshadows. They have the most colourful, most pigmented shades i've ever seen
I want to try makeupgeek, colourpop and Kat Von D's stuff... the latter is launching a flagship stall in the same department store than sells TooFaced and Urban Decay so that's good.
But the other two I'ma haveta grit my teeth and just buy it.
question re: makeup... would eyelid primer be good for making sure eyeliner doesn't like
rub off/smudge halfway thru the day
eyelid primer is best for eyeshadows.
or is that just the eyeliner being shitty...
if you want to keep your eyeliner on all day, I recommend a waterproof liner
but make sure you use an oil-based cleanser when removing make-up, that gets rid of waterproof stuff well.
whoa so complex!! i will probably go with waterproof since I tear up when i yawn
i started with a brush pen liquid liner which i really like... since it's easier to apply (my hand shakes)
Yeah I would start with a pen when first starting out, liquid or gel can take some getting used to
I recommend, personally, pen style liquid liners. I find them easier to control
Also seconding the Stila suggestion I love their stuff it goes on really easy
yeah that seems to be the case!
but brush style gel ones are good when you get the hang of it.
I use the Sailor Moon eyeliner :E
it's actually really good
like... I stopped using my favourite etude house one because hotdamn creere beauty
i wanna go baller and see if i can find a gold liner
I wish I had brown eyes so I could do a gold liner :<
Coloured eye liner is the easiest way to spice up make up
I love eyeshadows but my skill with it is noooot the best
I have bright blue eyes so gold looks super weird
i've got super brown eyes and darker skin so
I pretty much glow in the dark
so I like to go with a plain shade of eyeshadow and and then do wtf ever with my eyeliner to make it pop
All those good Swedish and welsh genes undoing all the nice olive/darker complexion I would get from my Italian/Brazilian heritage
and mehhhh. Do whatever you like with make up. People say "you shouldn't use this if you have xyz skin tone or eye tone"
i'm half filipino so i've got them dark genes
yeah honestly do whatever u want
I have to find the palest foundation colors and pray it's pale enough
I befriended one of the woman at the Urban Decay stall and I said that and she was like 'SHH SHH SHHH NO. You do you.'
it's ok... i accidentally got one too dark
also I am pale AF and have blue/grey eyes and I do wtf ever I want
-- also find out your skin tone
sometimes it doesn't matter how pale the foundation is
If you look for the lowest number
if that foundation is pale with yellow tone and you're pale with pink tone
that foundation is gonna look too dark on you
nah, I am an anaemic vampire
how do you find out your tone....
Use the under side of your arm
but if I accidentally wear pale af foundation with yellow tone it's like a beacon going 'THIS WOMAN PICKED THE WRONG FOUNDATION. LAUGH AT HER, PLEASE.'
but actually Urban Decay's foundation is good. 0.5 is pale enough and it's a little yellow but not too much. it works for me.
I love UD stuff but it's so expensive ;;
I got some of their lipstick for half off when they were rebranding their packaging, I was so happy
I got a really nice vintage dark red that way
I spend too much their. I tell Saff she should be paying me, the amount I buy there and she laughed at me
but when it comes to foundation I kinda swear by you get what you pay for.
But man I am so cheap rn
I tried MAC because everyone raved about it
I need to go out and just
That shit clogs up my face so bad
But man MAC makes me think I do
it was so drying and I was put off by "well you're so pale only two of our 750000 foundations actually suit your colour" and it was like '.... thanks obama'
But yeah I need to just hit up a beauty counter and be like
also yeah, they animal test.
"Here is $100-150 dollars get me started so I can look bomb on interviews."
I just need some good foundation and primer stuff. The rest I'm generally ok with
hilariously i am sat here cradling my new translucent matting powder from UD like it is my newborn child
Matting powder
That's one of those things that I'm always like "I need this, but God why so much"
because I need powder but most of them end up going 'LOOK AT HOW POWDERY THIS ASSHOLE'S FACE IS'
even when I refresh with spray during the day
I thankfully don't have the acne problem my mom does
I'm mostly dry skinned but occasionally my t zone is like 'SURPRISE'
Mostly my forehead and near my nose like
HELLO I WANT TO BE SWEATY AND OILY LOVE ME STILL
i've been using body shop combination products and it's not as oily as it was six months ago so that's good
body shop is the best, btw.
their combination skin range is
My forehead is the worst too cause like
i use the face wash and mattifying day cream
I have a scar on my hairline and I swear its impossible to hide
and it's worked nicely. I also use their exfoliating scrub once or twice a week
No amount of blending will fix it, and it basically looks like I missed a bunch of foundation right in that spot (I've had people tell me this constantly)
Like had a friend reach up and try to smudge my scar
And I'm like "lol good luck tell me if you get rid of that"
I don't, but again my makeup budget up to this point has been near non-existent
Literally right against my hair
So idk if I can actually blend it without getting product in my hair
It's not terrible, most of the time I part my hair to fall over it, but
in general, this stuff is really gentle on sensitive skin (I love UD but their primer made my face explode into spots), has SPF in it and kinda... photoshops the face? It's not too spendy either.
compared to some primers.
There are so companies that specialise in not-too expensive make up for covering scarring

Like so
Because yay for being a rough-and-tumble kid
also ack i came online to do my ac /runs
I'm gonna run to get a coffee anyway
i can talk make up for hours... one of the nurses where i work loves make up too and we're like 'AHHHHH' at each other at least three times a day
i didn't get into it until like... two years ago either
i went to korea in february and it was like... the pilgrimage to the holy land
This is such a good plurk. Makeup
Belatedly, colourpop owns my soul because they have the perfect purplish-grey for my skintone.
Also I've decided, I'm getting Panda
