My parents had three purebreds that look just like Pip. Chis come in all colors, two different head shapes, and two coat lengths.

MonroeJigsaw: chihuahua cross we think. Definitely has some chihuahua. They said she is purebred but I doubt it

I had a little black chihuahua-dachshund mix with Pip's coloring when I was growing up. She was the best.

Seriously, Chis can be any coloring. You should see the blue ones. They're rare, but really gorgeous.

EclecticWingtips: She can be purebred. The female my folks had was a papered purebred, looked just like that one. And sweet as could be. I've found that the deer headed Chis seem to be more snuggly.

The apple-headed ones, while having the more traditional look, also tend to have the dodgy temperament that most people associate with Chis, as well.

Guess which kind my female is.

That black one has a deer-head shape. The rest are apple-headed, though the one in the center looks almost a combination of the two types of heads. Or it could be the angle of the shot.
