It was sunny and hot all day, and around 5, it rained very lightly and I was like O Shit Dude but it didn't follow up.
Then at 7pm, my grandma and I light up the Okuribi to send my ancestors off back to heaven, yes? But the ground is damp and the fire had a hard time lighting.
This was the first warning sign of rain hell.
I managed to light it out of sheer tenacity, because dammit I was gonna light the damn sending fire and send them off RIGHT
And my grandmom is like NAH, IT WON'T RAIN.
And it just keeps getting heavier and heavier like, holy shit. Until it's pouring, which is exactly what my grandmom said it shouldn't do.
So. It's pouring buckets and my grandmom is like "Well, try going anyway, they won't cancel Daimonji", because it's set that Daimonji will happen on the 16th. No change.
So, despite the fact that I hate rain, especially pouring buckets rain, we go.
The good thing is, THEY LIT THE FIRE, so we saw Myouhou and Funagata!
But because it was raining so hard, they were having a hard time lighting Daimonji, so we didn't get to see it. I also got soaked to shit.
My shirt is totally wet, but about 80% my left shoulder and 20% my right. Wet both shoulders, damn you rain.
My granddad's boots kept my feet from getting soaked to shit though, thank you granddad m(_ _)m
