this is... the only kind of ship you do when you play exclusively OCs. :u
I think canon ships would make me leery to play out, christ, the few times I've played canon characters I've spent so much time fretting over whether they were IC or not
it's the best anyway.... biased audience claims
plz show me ur cnaon, show it to me by means of Romancing My Character
OKAY and I said that up there but.... for all the time before DWRP friends and I would play OCs from the same world mostly, so that's. I don't know if that counts as cross-canon?
unless all the jumping back-and-forth of characters in the Nexus counted as crossing canons, lol
ANYWAYS so I suppose my first real cross-canon ship was with Kaitan, Jo and Charles in a PSL where Jo and Charles were already a couple, coming out of that old game the Box
I admit I never got into Romantically Apocalyptic all that much, though I tried
Vitaly just annoys me as a concept of a person, so, shrug
the only other cross-canon ship I've done has been Evan with Celena Schezar from Escaflowne
as played by the incomparable Dilly (who also did Charles up there)
it was a ship that crept up on both of us and then EXPLODED INTO THE SCENE
pacifist nerd times edgy lady night
...Wait do you mean Dilandau?
Or was it like AU? I can't help curiosity because rare spawn Escaflowne.
or rather, post-series Celena who is no longer Dilandau
she does an incredible extrapolation of how the character would have grown after coming back to herself
Ahh that must have been interesting.
I adore Serene, who she ended apping instead, but I wish she'd been allowed to bring in Celena
she's a fascinating character study
(also rare spawn escaflowne ftw; dilly also plays Folken sometimes!)
Escaflowne characters do seem incredibly rare.
It's not in vogue right now, I suppose!
but with the new dub I bet we'll see a small uptick
I can imagine why the mods wouldn't accept Celena since we don't have too much from straight canon, but now that it's come up I don't think I've ever seen one.
Way back in the days of yore I had movie Dilandau.
Wow a re-dub, I didn't even realize.
I guess! Though as an OC player I admit I'm still pretty ??? about the particulars of rules regarding exactly what kind of canon characters can app
I wish there'd been a way to vouch for the character
ooooh movie Dilandau? I haven't actually seen the Esca movie yet
The movie's an interesting AU, and I liked the design and concepts. In that, Dilandau is actually his own individual with his own background and no relation to Allen as I recall.
...Ah but I'm totally sidetracking us here, sorry about that. I just get excited by seeing a nostalgic fandom.
Dilandau was the very first character I played
Oh gosh, that's so cool. I'd only ever seen one aside mine which struck me as a shame since he's such a card.
I'm Dilly because i looked at that app's Player Name section, went "uhhhh..." And just went with the fancharacter nickname
Ahh, hadn't even caught the fandom reference. That's awesome.
But movie Dilandau! I did app him into one of those abandoned city games once. Didn't last long as the game didn't mesh with me, but he is such a blast to consider
I've always thought as AUs go, the film gave us an interesting alternative world. My tenure with movie Dilandau in a game was also short-lived... I suppose he's a flower that needs particular tending.
It definitely gave a good glimpse into the nature of Escaflowne the god-machine that the TV series left unexplored in favour of character interactions
For the purposes of a film, I think it worked out well. Imagine trying to capture all the complexities of character relationships in the span of a movie... I mean surely it's doable but what a challenge.
It's nice how each highlights different aspects, and has its own take on concepts that still resonate with one another.
There's no way to play out those love dodecahedrons without hours upon hours of showtime
Very true, it got complicated.
but imagine the super condensed soap opera it would have been!
forget adventures with giant robots, all romance all day every day
what if we wanted to romance the robots?
go ahead, get your roboboning on
plenty of giant robots out there to love
as long as you don't mind the enerjizzt
ugly snort of laughter, also... cake!
