I also read this piece which is a lecturer on Ancient History from Manchester Metropolitan University writing about PTSD as we recognize it today and how it can't accurately be applied to soldiers in Antiquity.

I have a lot of thoughts on the matter of trying to apply modern psychology to historical peoples, but I in the middle on this one. I agree that modern warfare creates a specific sort of PTSD, really bad...

stuff, and that our culture plays into that just as Mr. Crowley says, but I also think the close comraderie as a opposed to the isolation would create it's own sort of emotional trauma on ancients peoples.
