a confession: even though nanowrimo has turned out to be a non-starter this year, I haven't responded to a single tag since November started
and while I can't say I've been more productive, I have been less stressed

part of that is rl circumstance -- house hunting is in full swing and the shop will be busy until January
but I am forced to admit that while I love RP, I have always found dwrp an unnatural format for my play style.
moreover I have been a bit frustrated with the idea of coming back to futuro
I have felt stalled out with his cr for a long while, with one or two exceptions
Cr I thought would lead to deeper friendships has stalled out and I've failed at snagging much new cr for him
I suppose that's on me -- I often struggle with the plurk format of plotting that people seem to use for all their significant cr building
I have one or two very compelling reasons to come back to futuro (hi, Mel, you poor bastard)
but I suppose I've been thinking that this stall out is sort of an indicator of not fitting in all that well, despite how lovely y'all are
I'm going to spend the next week or so really considering this question, because I have enjoyed my time here and I want to enjoy it again
but there's also the fact that I've sort of let dwrp take up all my non-work mental space and energy, which is bad
I have largely stopped drawing
which is no good and comes from a number of vectors
but the looming ongoing obligations of dwrp are making it really easy to ignore this thing that is so important to me and that I should be pouring so much more time and energy into

Yeah, trying to get involved in all the things a character would be on top of from day to day is just asking for burnout unfortunately.
The dichotomy of games is that they require you to account for more of your character's time by dint of the deadline on things and the number of PC's accountable for daily interactions
but the fun of RP is in skipping to the interesting parts, so you wind up getting sucked into maintaining the day-to-day to feel like you're doing justice to the setting
and that is definitely not fun, lol
I mean it is if you like mingling your characters I suppose
But when it doesn't feel like that CR set-up is going to go anywhere, it negatively impacts the fun you might have been having at the time since it was less than if you were playing PLOT! or SHIPS!
