Yeah. Japan does grow its own fruits, but the domestic are more expensive than imports at times. because Japan wants to go for the asthetically beautiful thing.
Apparently they make a lot of oney in China, because they have a reputation of being safe. The pretty stuff sells in department stores for a ridiculous amount.
But yeah, the stuff I buy is the cheapo stuff and that's still expensive.
But when the UK leaves the EU we will have the same problem. A lot of our fruit comes from Spain, where it's easy to grow. And cheap.
