her name is Claire and she's been missing since Friday
she's an indoor/outdoor cat and has a tendency to sometimes go off somewhere we don't know, but always comes back
if you can or know anybody in the area, please pass this along, we're starting to think someone mistakenly thought she was a stray and picked her up
she is microchipped but the shelter is closed during the weekend and hasn't been of much help presently
no she does not have a collar but as you can see she has a distinctive mark on her stomach
I don't usually like doing things that cross over so heavily into rl like this but I'm super stressed by now
please replurk if you can and maybe eventually we'll reach someone else in modesto
Good luck. I hope you find her.
My best friend lives in Modesto; I'll forward her the word.
good luck! i've heard that moving a cat's litterbox or some of your clothes in a box outside your house can help them find their way home
also be sure to check under porches and such nearby! cats don't usually go too far from home
i've heard it helps to set a crate with some water and a favorite blanket or something outside where she'd last have been
YEAH THAT mobile, whatcha gonna do
That's a good deal north from me, but I'll replurk
Have you checked pics online? A lot of times they'll post pics of animals that have been turned into shelters
We did that recently when someone literally kidnapped one of our kittens
I have been, yeah, I'm loading up the site again right now
But, they don't always put up pics of "strays"
!!! my friend's sister lives in modesto!!!
If the cat got turned in as a stray it might not be put up
i'll past the word directly onto her, esp since she gets a lot of cats in her area; hope you can find claire
So even if you don't spot the pic it might be worth it to go in person and ask... Actually, maybe even e-mail them a pic and ask if they've gotten this kitty
Since you do have plenty of good pics it seems
I remember reading something about taking out a blanket or bed or something with her scent and sitting it outside, because it might help the pet find their way home
It's been rainy in modesto lately so I'm really not sure how much the scent thing would actually help, I'm not trying to discredit y'all or anything
and I don't personally have a facebook, no, but my mom has posted on facebook about it, I'll ask her if she'll hit up any community groups about it
we're making lost posters right now
I'll try leaving out her blanket on the porch tonight
Scent stays far longer than people can smell it
also her fave stinky wet food
haha, we leave out food and a dish of wet food in our backyard for what that's worth? we have another cat that lives exclusively outside
I put her blanket out on the front porch
may she come home a little hungry but otherwise safe
I don't live locally, but I will say this: when I lost my cat a few years ago, these folks really helped a bunch. And I recovered him almost two months after he got lost.
Seriously, this website has a bunch of great tips, and it helped me recover my cat a couple years ago.
Promoted again and shared because I have kitties and I know what it's like to lose one. O_O
I hope you find your kitty.
^^ In case you know anyone in Modesto
I hope you find your kitty, how tragic
I pined call my Nor Cal peeps
I live South of Modesto so not close enough to know anyone personally.
OOOh I should share this on my Facebook since people who live near me follow me.
Do you have something I can link to my Facebook?
I believe there is a Facebook page dedicated to finding lost pets in this area too. Let me see if I can find it.
This group is especially for the Modesto and surrounding area.
They help find lost pets. I suggest joining and posting information there as they may have people who can help search local shelters etc.
augh I don't know how to use facebook but there's a post
Best wishes for finding your kitty! I've replurked.
I've shared it on my Facebook I hope someone sees it and can help.

only just now seeing this and i'm glad she's back too
komikbookgeek: yeah she's definitely grounded from outside for a good while, I'm going to push for putting a collar on her more
Good. Keep her in long enough and she'll get used to it.
