The Dollop is a good history/comedy podcast. Lore is a good folklore/creepy podcast. Both well-researched.

Thrilling Adventure Hour is a fictional podcast like old times radio serials. My faves in that umbrella is Beyond Belief ad Sparks Nevada.

Last Podcast on the Left can be real hit or miss depending on a person's type of humour (they can be offensive, especially in early days, but get better)

but around ep 65 they start doing more in depth research and they talk about serial killers and paranormal things.

For comedy I rely primarily on Earwolf, in particular comedy bang bang, improv4humans, how did this get made, and hello from the magic tavern

History Honeys is... well it's all over but Chicago history pops up a lot. And archeological fantasies is about the history of sham archeology like ancient aliens and shit

Hello from the Magic Tavern is pretty fun! Really anything that's on the Max Fun network is good listening

I've also been getting into Dan Carlin's Hardcore History. He puts out multi episode series on specific topics. So it goes more in depth then Stuff You Missed in History Class.

If you want to start somewhere I'd start with Blueprint for Armageddon. It's a 5 parter on the history of WW1

Also recommend the radiotopia network - 99 percent invisible and the memory palace are beautiful gems and are fairly short
