So I decided at 11:30 tonight that I needed a soda, so I hopped in my car and headed down the street. I decided to stop by the park near my house real quick and scan for good Pokemon (bc I am a nerd)
Had 2 Charmaders pop up so I pulled to the side of the road and parked so I can catch them. Once both are gotten I notice two vehicles coming my way that are acting kinda weird. So I slowly pull up, thinking mb I'm in their parking spot or something.
The 2nd vehicle, a big white van with tinted windows pulls up behind me. so I Uturn to the other side of the road, just trying to get out of their way. The van also Uturns and starts creeping up on me.
I pull into the parking lot of the park, trying to see if they follow me, trying to see if I'm just being paranoid. They don't follow me into the park and I stop my car for a minute and check my phone. Another charmander, I snag it and leave the parking lot
Van comes up behind me as soon as I pull onto the main street. Now I'm getting nervous, so I go through my little area of neighborhood (avoiding my street) and head towards a very busy road. Van follows my every freaking move and keeps pulling up very close behind me.
I head down towards the 7-11 I freuquent, knowing that if I can get into the store I will be alright. I get to the light, turn on my blinker and just wait for the light to turn green so I can get into that parking lot and into the store. Suddenly the van looks like it's gonna go straight and I breathe a sigh of relief
At the last minute the van flies into my lane and right on my back bumper, and I AM FREAKING THE FUCK OUT AND SHAKING
I get into the lot, grab a spot and turn to see if they've followed me. When I see them, they are blocking in someone at the pump and I just throw my hands in the air and run into the store and call the cops.
The clerk at the store goes out and casually gets the license plate number for the cops and tells me that they're just sitting there, on the side of the building van running and lights are on. 911 says they are sending someone out and if anything changes to call them back.
Now I'm just sitting in the 7-11 playing the waiting game, watching out the window to see if the van leaves. Cops, arrive (thanks to every deity in the heavens) and they immediately see the van and check it out.
Apparently these people had a window busted in their house and instead of calling the cops went looking for the person themselves and are now swearing up and down that they saw two men get in MY car and we drove away
and that when I went into the park the two men got out. And instead of chasing these people they swear the saw break their window, they chased me down
The cops are like "Now why would these people say that?"
Me: I have no idea, officers. I was alone in my car and went through the park parking lot bc I thought they were following me and was trying to make sure I wasn't being paranoid
Cops: Do you know them.
I look over at the people I can see : No, I'v never seen them before
So after going back and forth for like 20 mins, the cops take the info off my license and my phone number and tell me I can go, that I am not a suspect. They're going to go to these people's house and file a report. And that the person they saw break the window was about 17 years old.
I WAIT FOR THE VAN AND TRUCK TO GO AND THE COPS
I wait like an additional 10 minutes and drive a roundabout way to my house. I stop and call a friend to calm me down bc I am freaking the fuck out
(Also when the cops finished talking to the people the first time they came to get my side) I just told the cops I was checking something on my phone which is why I had stopped and pulled over to begin with
But now I'm nervous bc these people live in my general vicinity anf what's to stop them from coming to look for my car?
medievalism: yeah, it was p much the scariest thing to happen to me in a long long time
Not o sound creepy but van peoples story sounds made up,
Yeah, I'm glad the police went with them to their house to do a report. I'm sure if there's no broken window the cops would be suspicious
Please let me know what happens when they follow up.
Also how bad is the damage to your car???
My car is alright, they just tapped my bumper. I'll keep you updated when/if I hear anything from the cops. I just need to make sure to tell my parents about it in the morning which i am not looking forward to
Ugh. So glad that the cops responded to this, hopefully no more trouble comes out of this and glad you're okay. hugs
My mom was pretty proud of how I responded to the situation and my dad was just like "They were stupid" which is not helpful but I appreciate the thought.
BrimstoneMuse: Yeah, they got there within like 5 minutes, so I was pretty impressed and they even said I did the right thing, bc better safe than sorry when somebody is following you.
hugs back It was very scary
Yeah, you definitely did. That was going to be my suggestion when I saw what was going on, to drive right to a police station or something like that rather than going home.
You did everything right.
BrimstoneMuse: Thank you, it was nice to know that while even in the midst of panic I was able to think clearly enough to keep myself safe.
Crises are so strange that way, aren't they?
