Hope it generates enough profit for Director Wei to start the Taiwan Trilogy.
The lesbian couple was a surprise to us when we watched 52Hz. I guess Wei is supporting the same sex marriage in Taiwan.
My interpretation is Taiwan as a whole is making the 52Hz (implying the Taiwan Independence).
Then the People of Taiwan are cats, because they are afraid to say TI collectively (for not getting hurt).
Love will unite the Taiwanese people and country identity across all age generations and sex orientations.
That is why Wei still has guts on this film, but he just chose to say it in a happy (and implied) way.
That is why cats ride on whale to sail (out of Taiwan) make sense to me. And the final scene in the restaurant.
Imagine these love connections all happen in one day, and Taiwan officially kick off her new identity.
It is a wild dream, but (Love Actually) is indeed the key. You can see that hope in young generations during the Sunflower Movement.
Thanks for the agreement with my "reading" on the 52Hz movie.
Just hope more people can "read" the movies, not just "watch" the movies simply.
Movie is an implied art, this critical reading is important, even for musical movies on the surface.
La La Land has its deeper implications too, not just a love story (within a year). Same for 52 Hz, which has 4-5 love connections (within a day).
