he stole tends of thousands of dollars.
there are 30 senior dogs there that are at risk of being put down or stuck in shelters if the sanctuary can't afford to take care of them.
All donations are tax deductible as well.
please spread this, replurk it, tweet it, etc. please please please.
i've been there. i help out. the sanctuary doesnt just care for seniors but also rehabilitates feral seniors that were abandoned and lived alone for a long time
even one dollar helps. <3
reblogged here and on Tumblr. is there a fb post to share?
I know a lot of dog lovers
objectpermanence There isn't yet, Verna was planning to make one. I'll link it when it shows up.
TenAges Oh that's a great idea! I've gotten run it by Verna since she's the one running it (the founder of the sanctuary) but she's looking for as much exposure as possible anyway so that sounds great.
likewise with bringing the news of this to twitter and facebook
God, like...obviously I'm concerned for the dogs, but I can't imagine having your best friend for thirty years backstab you and steal from your business and ditch
yeah, that's seriously fucking awful. she seems amazing to be holding it together to try to take care of the dogs with what's happened.
yeah, it was the biggest shock. the area we live in is such a tight knit community though, so everyone is rallying behind her. a lot of donations of food and supplies are coming in, which helps a lot.
she's even had some news stations call her so hopefully there will be a news story soon to spread it more.
you could try instagram too maybe or twitter
I recommend going to reddit, too, if you haven't
hell, try buzzfeed. They love senior dogs and that's a huge audience. You can start with the community section.
YEAH, SEND THAT BACKSTABBER BEHIND BARS!!!
Betraying a friend and robbing them blind is shitty enough, but a fucking animal shelter too? Those poor dogs.
one of the worst parts to top it all off is he stole four bags of dog food for his own dog before leaving too.
pretty much all the food the sanctuary has is donated, and gets donated at intervals by local shops, so verna has to separate it out to make sure it all lasts before they get more
but yeah, dude better fucking watch his back because our entire community is ready to kick his fucking ass.
wow i am so sorry. i hope this helps.
honestly anything helps, even just sharing this around.
luckily some news stations are interested in picking the story up so hopefully if that happens there can be even more exposure
i'm going to share this with brother wolf animal rescue
BWAR is a no-kill major animal shelter/rescue located in asheville very close to tryon
if they can do anything, they can boost awareness, they have a huge following and lots of people will step up to help
ok i just messaged them on facebook
i will report back if they get back to me
i'm sure
Dogs: Woof wouldn't mind hearing about this. if anybody posts a link, make sure to begin the title with "[Link][News]" (order doesn't matter) though, titles can't be edited after posting.
not sure what other subreddits would mind a link though, some doggit (/r/dogs) posters might not mind giving suggestions.
thank you guys for so many links and resources. i've been passing them all on to verna. she's been busy with police reports and news interviews so she hasn't been able to sit down with me and green light any other promos or donations
but hopefully she'll have some time tonight and we can work more stuff out
she's hesitant to advertise the sanctuary a lot because she already has had some issues with people trying to just abandon their seniors at her doorstep, which is a problem because she only has so many resources right now
but she's managed to remove the main sanctuary's address from a lot of places to avoid that so hopefully we can bring that to a minimum
what the actual fuck, why
people are sick shits, that's why
i once heard a story of a guy coming to a shelter with a big box and saying he wanted to make a donation. The lady got all excited because obviously they always need food. He opened the box, and there were several puppies inside
and when she pointed out that wasn't a donation he was like 'why not? you sell them, right?'
...i mean at least he didn't dump them on the side of the road, but that's the nicest story i heard about dumb people when i volunteered
At least the guy had his heart in the right place?
Wow this is super shitty and awful.
