technically snowe mightve had a "good" childhood... in that it was all a lie and ignorance was bliss

he was happy when he didnt know

but behind the scenes, he had a demon sealed silently in his head, his people were reprogrammed to parrot his emotions back at him to keep him complacent, he had so many spells to alter his memory and perception of reality on him that he has minor brain damage

his mother and father only had him so he could be a tool in their long term plan to use him as a vessel for a demon so they could steal the immortality and paradise of the king who was king enough to give them a place to stay

Lina did at least have SOME motherly affection for Snowe, and violently reacted to seeing Xiri trying to communicate with Snowe

and even after ditching him to paradise, she apparently missed him... but ultimately, she didnt care enough

edgar hated snowe, he hated that he was someone elses child, he hated that he was a fire mage, he probably hated that he took some of linas attention from him

edgar wasnt even snowes real dad

speaking of snowes real dad he was comatose for most of snowes life after what edgar and lina did to him, and when he awoke, he was PISSED and tried to kiss snowe and his entire kingdom due to his anger at snowes parents

soan at least later calmed the fuck down and is starting to build an amicable relationship with snowe and is shown to care about him a little...

also, when snowe was born, soan thought he was really really cute so theres that

Richard and Vera were friends of Edgar and Lina and served as royal advisors on policy and magic, to both snowes parents, and to snowe as prince, but they also acted as his parents in edgar and linas place

and after leaving the island, formally adopted him and considered him his son

they love him, and snowe loves them

as for good memories?

most of snowes positive memories of his parents are dubious-

several are faked

when they faked their death, he was so distressed at how not sad he was about them being dead, that he started pretending "what if i did have good memories and loved them?"

and with the people in the kingdom parroting back his imagination at him, and his altered perception of reality, he started to believe his own lies

until he forgot they were lies

one memory that might be real that he does cherish, is that whenever his mother would return home from being away, she would thank the kingdom for still being there- something snowe would mimic whenever he would leave and come bacl

little does he know it was probably because edgar and lina's last kingdom burned to the ground lmao

he does have a cherished memory of RICHARD, though, of richard helping him build snowmen when no one else would or could (lil babby snowe waiting for edgar to build snowmen wuith him but edgar never does :') )

and also of richard giving snowe a stuffed rabbit to cuddle when he was little

he was probably tutored by richard and vera and the various library and magic helpers

his tutoring was very good, im sure, with limits- the history he learned was probably half truth

he learned about his lineage on his mothers side and the royal family of sabine, he just didnt know the history he learning was actually the history of a different place entirely, warped to fit this new kingdom

but h was probably quite good at what history he did learn!

i cant imagine him being terribly good at math

he did struggle with his lessons for a while, though, what with his rampant memory issues in his teens

7. Did they have lots of friends as a child? Did they keep any of their childhood friends into adulthood? he was friends with everyone in town, especially the children, who he grew up with

he just. didnt notice. that they didnt grow up with him.

they were young kids when he was a baby and toddler, and then he was the same age as them, and then he was older, and then and adult... and they stayed the same

so i guess, technically, he did keep his childhood friends into adulthood...

at least, until he broke the spells and everyone in sabine forgot he existed :')

when the people of sabine had the spells lifted, they all felt ann automatic hatred for snowe... except the children, who had a feeling he wasnt so bad!

when richard and vera had their daughter river, snowe was such an amazing big brother

sometimes snowe was the only person in the family who could get river to behave or calm down, or she wouldnt let her parents feed her, only big brother snowe

i think snowe would love to be a parent some day, when hes more stable, and he would be pretty good at it, i think. hes definitely a good babysitter for his little sister

sleeping pattern is not as even as he liked. in his teens it was haphazard, as he frequently had fainting spells and fatigue

and then SOMEONE started giving him so many nightmares he hardly slept at all

when he does sleep, he probably either sleeps fitfully, or like the dead, and i doubt he snores

he could sleep on almost any surface if hes tired enough but i think hed prefer a big squooshy mattress with a lot of pillows and blankets

Snowe smiles a lot and laughs a lot and jokes and teases a lot when hes happy!

of course, he also does that things when hes unhappy and pretending to be happy, but hes pretty bad at the acting part and his friends always see through it

im definitely sure he hums

xisting can make him pretty sad sometimes. xiri makes him sad because xiri has a pretty sad situation

snowe doesnt cry often, though, and tries his hardest to suck it up, but his sadness is then expressed with fatigue and tiredness and a general moroseness

he often tries to fake being happy to avoid worrying people. it rarely works.

losing his friends

hes terrified of people he cares about hating him, of being abandoned- especially since its already happened several times now

he sometimes makes Bad Decisions that might unintentionally hurt his friends, in an effort to keep them from leaving him

see: refusing to tell astra his head demon wants to kill her bc her death would free him

but he was desperate to keep her friendship and made Bad Decision

(turns out when astra found out she was mostly just upset that he didnt trust her)

depends on the fear

if its one of those very minor fears like being ridiculous over seeing a mouse, snowe might tease!

idk if this is a guilty or unguilty pleasure but baths

Snowe likes boys, but for most of his life he thought he was straight

he never knew there were other options, so he assumed girl + boy was the only option, and there were only heterosexual relationships in town, and not to mention im sure because of the spells, the townspeople parroted back his het-only assumption back at him

and then he met astra and erio and snowe assumed he Must be attracted to astra, when asked, and his reasoning was literally just the intro to sk8tr boi

Artyom Alexovich in video game canon, tho its mostly half-confirmed headcanon

his first name is the russian masculine form of Artemis, the goddess of the hunt

could also mean 'safe' or 'butcher'

Alexovich is a patronym, from his adoptive father Alex

in the book canon, his adoptive fathers name is written more as the russian form of his name, Aleksey or Aleksei

book Artyom's name is Artyom Alekseyevich Chyornij

(i predicted that hed have a patronym of his adoptive fathers name before the newest book canonized it just saiyan)

Chyornij is a self given surname, taken for the russian word that was used for the Dark Ones, which he took on out of guilt for KILLING THEM ALL

2. Do they have any titles? How did they get them? well Ranger, which he got via trial by fire via [insert plot of first game here] where he was even assumed to be a ranger before he actually met Miller

after helping the rangers claim D6, he was inducted into the ranks, skipping the recruit/cadet period other rangers-to-be had to go through

another title... Dark Rail Tracer, which is less a title and more an assumption of his nature

some of the things hes done, people assume a human couldnt have done it, and claim it was a demon people have started calling the Dark Rail Tracer

examples: people say the Dark Rail Tracer killed every single soldier on both sides of the nazi-communist frontline

he once plowed through 2 armies because they were in his way on his quest to save his home station

so hes satisfied with a decent mattress, but i think hed be like snowe, and ideally love a big pile of soft to bury himself in
