but there's minute differences
Frisk ate the leaves of the yew branch they fell down with instead of buttercups, and didn't tell Asriel of their plan, just extracting a promise that if they ever did die, they'd want him to be the one to have their soul

they hid away somewhere to die and while they changed their mind, by the time they did it was too late and they were unable to call for help

their body and soul were discovered by Asriel, who thought they might have been playing hide and seek and had a good idea of their hiding spots. he absorbed it

they actually lived together like that for a while! but for the both of them the Barrier called

this canon

and they went through to get six souls. it was both their idea, in the end, even if Frisk had had it in mind for a while

and actively encouraged it once he had that first thought

the plan was this: go to hospital/rest home, collect souls from dying people

that way nobody would have to die

(well, be killed)

unfortunately, their combined form was horrifying, news spread, and they were surrounded before they could even get there

They told Asriel to make a show of magic up into the air to scare the people away so they could run

and then pushed it down towards the people

a monster with a human soul, even a young one, is very powerful. they got to LV 7

and then they got shot in the right eye and all hell broke loose

things went pretty much as in canon then, only without the body because Asriel and Frisk never took it with them

and that's how Frisk died. Twice

basically Frisk wasn't always a pacifist. They and their brother took away opposite messages from the same event

my G only sees events that happen inside the barrier so he's missing half the story but ow. Ow.

Asgore took the branch and planted it with some coaxing magic and that's why there's a yew tree in New Home now

he has no idea it's what they used

i chose yew for the pun but it's also a tree with associations with death, wisdom and immortality
which I think fits
