The simple archeologist never intended to cause the shrinking and loss of Earth, along with all the other shit that came about because of his excavations. ;w;
katzroy: ..I don't know if anyone would throw someone at him, but you're just tempting me even more. xD;;
God knows I probably have enough artwork for a joke account.
if you ever do, link me. x]
I will!~
I'd absolutely throw Margulis at him...unless you didn't want him that horrified, with hearing about the future through Margulis' jade glasses.
No way, that's absolutely what I'm going for here!
Poor Masuda would still be optimistic about whatever results his research may have gained in whatever DM post I make, so a jaded look like Margulis's would just be what the doctor ordered to make him horrified. :3
On the flip side, I'm sure Margulis would bug the hell out of Masuda about Earth and his research.
Even CRAU!Margulis would, because he's only been to alternate versions of Earth.
Someone from an Earth that is explicitly the past of his own world? Prepare for nerd mode.
More like Nerd-to-Nerd combat, considering the field Masuda's in. xD;
At least, once the culture shock and the horror of realizing what he's done wears off.
And they can both be in the 'Used by Wilhelm Club' together too, since his research was funded by him..><;
Or possibly nerd club, considering Margulis would absolutely be a historian if he wasn't so busy being military.
And also 'used by Wilhelm' club. Margulis knows Wilhelm was around back then already.
Finally someone he can gush about ancient history with and ask questions about ancient Earth with the chance of actually getting an answer for once.
..Though, Xenosaga is really just one huge nerd club, honestly.
And while Masuda wouldn't know Wilhelm by that name, once the description came out, he'd easily be able to put two and two together and be baffled by it
Yessssss. He would be so excited.
And yeah, all Xenosagas are nerds, they're just different flavors of nerds.
Actually, he might. One NPC mentions that the name Wilhelm is listed for Vector's CEO dating waaaaaaaay back.
People just went 'no, it can't be the same Wilhelm, he'd have to be ancient!'
..Wilhelm, we give chaos a lot of shit, but really, you're not much better about changing your name over time.
At least you wait until people think that it can't be the same person, I suppose..
And he doesn't make many public appearances, so people probably just think it's somehow managed to stay in one family for this entire time and that family just has a lot of heirs named after the founder.
Since there's probably no actual kept records of his appearance to go 'hey, he looks just like the Wilhelm who ran the company 300 years ago!'
I hadn't thought of that, but you're right. Given how massive the company is and the lack of records, people would just assume it was the usual rich prick tradition of giving different kids the same name over and over again and think no more of it.
Still doesn't mean I can't tease him about it. xD; Just couldn't leave your tribute to your favorite German philosopher alone, could you, Willy? :3
Pretty much. People talked, but it was all in the realm of conspiracy theories.
I'll have to tag this after work, since I've gotta leave in ten minutes.
..Conspiracy theories that chaos probably would have enjoyed, if he'd managed to hear any of them.
And that's fine! There's no rush! Have fun and good luck at work!
It's possible to overhear one NPC noting the oddity?
firebenderjess:
True, but it's not quite the same thing as swimming in an ocean of 'These two guys have the same name! That must mean Wilhelm is an immortal reptileman!' theories, or ones just as crazy.
lol i'm just checking to see if something is coming of this
Other than future (hopefully) Margulis shenanigans, there's nothing else. ^^;
What you see is what you get here. xD;;
Of course, you're free to toss someone at poor Masuda too!
And come on, doesn't Wilhelm just seem cold blooded?
It's fine! Like I keep saying, take your time. God knows I probably won't be up late today. ^^
Pff-xD He actually does, now that you mention it..
Though my tired brain had to picture him as the snake that first tempted Adam and Eve.
...I could almost see it, if he decided that living in paradise wasn't worth the price of ignorance for humanity.
Plus, knowing him, living in ignorance like that wouldn't be..a true choice, if that makes any sense. At the end of the series, the main party chooses to move forward without the Recurrence, knowing all the good and bad that'll come of it, but..living in Eden with no knowledge of what you're gaining or losing isn't a true choice.
Plus, we all know Wilhelm. The bastard would love upsetting things in the most dramatic way possible.
..And here I am probably overthinking a joke I made on no sleep. ><;
But given what he is, I doubt Wilhelm could've existed at the very dawn of humanity.
CRAU!Margulis typically doesn't wear the Ormus coat too much baggage.
...Though given Dear Mun and meta shenanigans, for all we know he's reacting to the icons themselves XD
Nah, he couldn't have. Like I said, I'm overthinking a dumb joke. ^^;;
Aaagh..><;; I just kind of assumed he was wearing it, honestly. If you'll let me know what he's actually wearing, I'll go back and edit accordingly!
..Though I love how (at least in Episode II) Margulis just..has his sword tied right in front of his junk when he's wearing that coat.
You're not being subtle at all, Margy. xD;
A purple longcoat in a more Eastern style, with a phoenix embroidered on the back. He actually got it in late 20th century Japan!
And I'm pretty sure there actually is historical precedent for carrying your sword that way... Or maybe he just got sick of teenage!Albedo being petty and trying to kick him there.
CRAU!Margulis carries two swords, one on either hip. Plus a pair of twin swords connected at the hilt crossed over his back that's actually a Vessel of Anima.
And let me know if that edit needs more retooling!
There probably is historical precedent for carrying your sword that way, but that doesn't mean I'm not gonna make fun of Margulis for it. xD;
..I can't blame him for trying to curb teenage!Albedo's bad behavior though. ><; Albedo, do you always have to go for the easy target?
It's fine! Poor Masuda...he doesn't even know how many various knives are hidden about his person.
Poor Masuda is used to dealing with his fellow archeologists and scientists, not futuristic members of the Church that fight things on a daily basis.
Fish completely out of water.
The purple-red hair and violet eyes are probably a bit weird to him, too...
Probably..I'll just chalk him not noticing the eyes as..just that, since eye color can be pretty hard to see sometimes. As for the hair color, most people would probably just assume that he dyes it.
Which Masuda would consider weird, but there's bigger fish to fry here, and it's not that strange in the grand scheme of things.
Margulis is used to that assumption, anyway. Even if it's a minor pet peeve...
Sorry, Margy, but I don't think most people are going to think that purple-red hair on a man of your age is normal.
At the very least, someone who's still living on Earth before it was lost wouldn't think so.
He's used to these hair colors being natural, okay?
And he spent a good while in Japan, where scars and dyed hair tended to lead to certain assumptions about one's relationship with the law...
Though..to be fair, Margulis isn't exactly on the law's good side in his own universe.
Thankfully, Masuda's from Canada, so..such assumptions won't be made on his end. Even though Margulis without his hair and scar would still look intimidating.
Yeah, but for different reasons.
He doesn't appreciate assumptions of association with organized crime.
