Can I include platonic relationships bc hot damn do I love Undyne and Papyrus's friendship, as well as Alphys and Mettaton's.
I also love Alphyne, and on the more controversial side of things, I do like Soriel... when it's done well taking into account the issues both sides bring to the table
6) Favourite characters
This is like asking me to pick a favourite child : ( pretty much all of the main characters are engaging in their own way.
It's probably not going to be a surprise that Frisk and Chara are at the top of the list, though. I also like Alphys a great deal.
I have a soft spot for Kid and Mettaton now too, largely thanks to snap.and vanessa.
I'd say NarraChara but no, that's utterly canon.
I do have a soft spot for the theory that Asgore worked out the buttercup thing far too late to do anything about it.
There's also a lot of theory on how souls and magic work in this universe that I've kind of just absorbed into my body.
I also embrace the theory that poncho human was also a red soul (although them being a different colour would be a nice subversion of expectations)
also speaking of sans and toriel
this is the only work of fanart about it that really seemed
right to me
but tbh I've barely seen any, that one is just so friggin cute
God okay here's where I confess that I have never personally gotten past Muffet. A ton of information I've gotten about the game has been through walkthroughs and looking at maps and reading rawrs, and rp and fanfics (which aren't always the most reliable, given i came away with the impression that MK was a he for a while)
So there's a lot of stuff I know that I didn't experience
I am sorry on behalf of my terrible spider lady favorite.
'her fight's rhythmic' I say to myself 'it should be easy!'
no, it is not : /
specially when i only have a bandage like a dumbass
tbh I just save me a spider donut all the way thru and skipped it
yeah i was kicking myself bc i was like 'i should pick one up for Muffet's fight' so i did and then i forgot later and ate it
i am not the best gamer out there
so in any case with that caveat in mind - my favourite scene is Chara's confrontation at the end of genocide
Technically, if you have way more patience than I have ever had in my entire life, probably, you can build up enough gold to actually buy something at the second, super-expensive bake sale right before her fight.
She doesn't even start fighting you if you do that, from what I've heard.
hhhh patience is evidently not my soul trait
(and naz I love that comic)
the blackness, the wind, the heartbeat, the slow scroll of the words... i love the atmosphere of it.
I was lucky enough to have forgotten about my Spider Don(u)t and so I still had it when I got to Muffet
Ooh, wanna hear a disturbing headcanon I have about that windy sound in the background of the Erased World? : D
i am relieved on your behalf
Okay, so: as evidenced by Chara's presence and by Frisk's soul still being there, an erased world isn't completely gone, yes? After all, if it was then how would Chara be able to bring anything back?
I have theories about that but go on
Instead, I posit that what happens is that a soul with sufficient power, striking at a weak spot in the world at just the right time and place, can send the whole thing crashing down into the Void, where the entirety of it is absorbed and converted into nothingness.
Like the wreck of a ship on the seafloor, it retains some degree of boundary within itself, even if it has been utterly ruined from its former nature.
This is not just true of the physical world itself. It is also true of all the people within it, living or dead.
They have lost all form and feeling, much further gone than even a lost soul could ever be, until only a hollow and terrible hunger remains, but they do remain.
The sound in the background of the Erased World is not wind.
They are the remnants of an entire creation, drawn to the only point of light and life left in being.
god you have a way with words ecks
They babble, scream, plead, unknowing and without understanding. They do not have the form or the function necessary to claim the soul even if they could take it, but nevertheless they reach for it desperately and annihilate themselves further in the doing, like a raindrop falling into a campfire.
They act on pure instinct. There may be other, stronger things in the Void as well...
But they would wait. They could perhaps restrain themselves enough to plan.
(And aww, thanks guys, you're gonna make me blush. : D)
(you should def save this elsewhere this is gold)
I always figured that it wasn't so much wind as "blackness and air rushing around you" being what chara (also frisk) experienced when they fell to what they wanted to be their deaths
god that's also painfully good
Yeah, once again I go for angst over common sense, whereas Snap has actually figured out the concept of 'elegant simplicity'. : D
Though I must say Echo's idea greatly appeals to me as a Dark Tower fan
Then again Undertale IN GENERAL appeals mightily to me as a Dark Tower fan so
(Seriously, Snap, that idea is clean, self-contained, and fucking beautiful, mine is basically me falling back on fancy phrasework to hide the fact that I'm as subtle as a hammer to the face. And you wonder why we're always so impressed with your stuff? : D )
aw jeez
also: 24 and 26 for ut my guy
24) New interest... well i've definitely gotten intrigued by knitting, for all that i haven't actually pursued it much hhh (i did get back into cross-stitch and punniken by association). Undertale is the first thing I've bought merch for just to have, so there's that. Otherwise most of the interests Undertale intersected with were ones I already had.
26) Favourite supporting character
Friiick this is a tough choice
Alphys, yeah. Sans next. I do also like Toriel and Asgore.
Alphys's story arc interests me the most, even though it feels a little rushed, and maybe because it does. She's surprisingly involved.
Sans is a Mystery and there's always something tempting about a mystery
And of course Dreemurr drama is the stuff I grab my popcorn for
